I don't know if anyone caught the new show, 'Bordertown' last night on FOX, but that poo poo was absolutely awful. None of these characters are likable and the animation is just horrible, IMO, not to mention awfully 'borderline' racist/stereotypical content. Not to menton Hank Azaria doing some poor voice acting for the show. It seemed to get some laughs from the Latino community, but that's about it. I'm betting they won't even air the entire season. Going along with Fox's craptacular show record, 'Mulaney' has to be up there with one of the worst sitcoms..if you could call it that. It was trying to hard to be an unfunny version of Seinfeld..not every comedian can pull of the TV show thing. It's so forgettable Fox seemed to forget to take down the website, with the last update being February of 2015.

I remember watching some sitcom when I was little, I think the name was Out of This World. The main character was a high school girl and her mom hosed an alien I guess who maybe died or had to go incorporeal for some reason or some poo poo, so her dad was an alien who could stop time and poo poo to give her advise or whatever when she got into stupid situations?

Yeah, Burt Reynolds was the cube dad's voice. My sister and I watched that a lot. Freezing time would be a cool power.

The League was easily one of the worst shows on television for (at least) its last three seasons. It's probably not one of the worst shows ever, its first few years were pretty good, but for the last few years it was certainly the worst show I've ever continued to watch regularly.

Zeroisanumber posted:The worst show that I ever watched was a wretched piece of crap called "Sister Kate" which was about a nun with a lovely attitude taking care of a bunch of orphans with lovely attitudes. The show had all of the charm of a dead rat on a plate. Whoa, someone else remembers this show. I think I still have a VHS tape somewhere of an episode where Milli Vanilli guest starred because I had to tape it for my sister who wouldn't be home to watch it that night. And yeah, I'll jump on the Allen Gregory hate-train. As has been said before, no TV show before or since has filled me with such utter contempt. A lot of people are posting bland sitcoms and such, but that's the keyword: bland. Allen Gregory is a whole other category of animosity, deplorableness, and culpableness of the writers and especially Jonah Hill for unleashing it upon the TV world.

Well, now I'm going to have to watch Allen Fucknuts or whatever and love it, just to spite everyone. I wasn't saying Out of This World was terrible, exactly, as I was pretty young and my description is about as much as I remember, but I figured with a premise that thin, it's either gold, or poo poo.

The thing I've learned about revisiting old TV shows you watched as a kid is this: Don't. I used to watch Out of This World, too, along with Small Wonder and other syndicated shows. Although I haven't seen either of them in at least 20-some years, I'd rather keep them as a fun memory instead of learning the horrible truth: they're corny and bad. Not even "so bad, it's good," just... bad. Learned that with Full House and Saved by the Bell, I did. Jesus, the gently caress was I thinking back then?

For whatever reason as a kid I was obsessed with the short lived series 'The Charmings,' a whacky sitcom about fairytale people living in the modern world for reasons. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Charmings My older brother recently made me watch an episode on YouTube as payback for the times I cried until my mom put it on the our TV.

Anyone else ever seen that secret life of the American teenager clip where the girl says that having sex killed her dad? That's the worst tv ever. Besides Blue Bloods Also even though it's not terrible, I still dislike MASH because the took a super edgy raunch comedy and made it a dumb sitcom. The book is even more far out though. The actually keep Ho Jon out the army and send him to Dartmouth. They raise funds for this by tying a drunk Trapper John to a cross in a diaper, hang him underneath a medevac chopper which flys him to FOBs to sign autographs as Jesus.

The Highwayman a 1988 television show that was like a cross between Mad Max and Knight Rider about a man who drove through the badlands in a flaming semi truck that could transform into a helicopter. Surprisingly, it was the least awesome show imaginable.

YeahTubaMike posted:but they didn't make everyone terrible. the teacher and the adopted daughter were nice. if everyone had been terrible, then maybe it could have worked (lol no). That's a good point, and also Allen Gregory, the title character, was horrifically cruel to both, which just didn't work. (Oh, and as noted, it ends on the nice teacher being raped with no associated comedy aside from what you personally ascribe to any given rape.) So you'd have this "super rich super smart" boy terrorizing two decent people while the show did not seem to acknowledge it in any way. The man who got coerced into a gay marriage and given AIDS was usually pretty nice too.
