Probably the coolest part about Aberrant was how as more books were released, the writers revealed that basically Divis Mal was 100% right. Trying to live as humans would almost universally doom themselves to madness or death, and only by living as gods or monsters could they achieve full potential and avoid mental taint, and this was mechanically supported.

Then he and his most trusted lieutenants eventually get powerful enough to make their own universe and just gently caress off entirely

Have to say that while Death seems very flavorful, and is great for detectives and on the other end serial killers, it definitely feels like the most limited specialty unless your campaign focuses heavily on the underworld or a Ghostbusters style incursion.

Interesting. So I only need life 2 to make someone crap their pants? Seems mandatory on most wizards, unless the other arcana can replicate that

A good alt name for Craftsman's Eye would have been "Adventure Game Protagonist"

In Dogs, are the "demons" expressly a real supernatural force or is it left ambiguous/real world religion-y?

Or even, is the default assumption that you are always and obviously dealing with purely human struggles that people try to justify theologically, with that feeding into the conflict?

So, why is adding another paragraph of description to your coat on the same tier of rewards as adding relationship dice or additional fallout rewards?

I feel like we've seen the option to describe your coat a little more as a mechanical benefit that costs resources to pursue more than once, but I missed the part that makes it worth it despite the opportunity cost.

I like it because its resonant with the symbol of the changing moon--you have your three big states but then these gibbous, waxing or waning places in between.

Honestly, I think the mechanics would look similar even if you got rid of them. While human form and wolf form are essentially non supernatural registering camouflage, you'd still want to give players the ability to manifest claws or extra strength in human form occasionally, or incredible speed and supernaturally bleeding wounds in wolf form. If only because going full werewolf is supposed to be big deal and scary as hell.

Idigams seem cool as gently caress--is there more in this book about the void spirits as well?

I kinda like the wolf blooded more than the full on werewolves. All the werewolves have to be versatile, absurd combat badasses while with the wolf bloods they were free to give them specific but useful niches and go crazy on the esoteric mythology and rich flavor.

Definitely get more character ideas by reading that section than the rest, and it would be really easy to have a campaign with wolf blooded and spirits as the main/only supernaturals.

Werewolf on the whole seems really great about having a fleshed out setting and mythology and great antagonists.

I guess the only "problem" is that Vampire, with the struggle with the Beast, seems to take on most people's understanding of the themes and fears behind real world werewolf myths.

The noble shamanistic border guards are cool, but also an original invention of the game world that happened to be called werewolves because they needed a place to put the werewolf splat.

It is pretty annoying that whenever there's a Real World Order Of Magicial Types, odds are their founder will be Houdini, Crowley, or Rasputin.

At least Deadlands went in a completely different direction and made it Hoyle.

Someone should write a setting where Eugene Sandow founded a secret order of ascetic muscle wizards

You could definitely play it like Demons are better at lying to other supernaturals than regular humans. Most of us aren't consciously or accurately reading body language and stuff like that, we use a combination of instinct and subconscious reading, available evidence, and our own prior experiences to decide whether not only to believe someone but also to what degree.

The hubristic mage casts a spell demanding that the Supernal world reach down an reveal the Absolute Truth of a Demon's words and goes, well that has to be the way it is, my understanding must be what's flawed

I'm trying to think of fictional characters who would be Beast pcs and it's like Zoom/Hunter Zolomon from the Flash and Mother Gothel from Tangled, just absolutely horrifying people.

Was it JMS or Bendis who retrofit a whole Spider God/Spider Totem thing into Spider-Man? Madame Web and all that? I don't think it fits the tone of the comics, but it could easily work in D&D.

JMS. Nowadays there's even a group of universe hopping Spider themed heroes who have a base built around the literal Web Of Life and Fate and read it's patterns to see where they are needed, which could be pretty easily adapted for the right adventuring party.

Spiders could be good symbols for the heroes in a mecha game as well.
