I've been trying to put this exact idea into words for years. Do you have any information on how the name 'Obrimos' came about, derivations, fictional antecendents, etc?

Obrimos is from a Greek word that means "mighty" or "terrifying". You see the feminine form of the word, "brimo", used a lot to describe ancient Greek goddess of death and magic.

There are more Chinese names that show up, like the Fortune of Steel whose exact name I forget. But otherwise they are few and far between, so whenever they show up they do stand out.

The Fortune of Steel is Xing Guo. There's also Tsi Wenfu, the founder of the Tsi family/Oriole clan, the minor clan that are the Imperial weaponsmiths. (Xing Gou was also a Tsi) There was also a famous book about war and battles written by a general named Sun Tao. There guesses on who he's supposed to be.

But pseudo-Chinese stuff is kind of light on the ground in L5R.
