White Wolf has always had this sulfurous whiff of the far right about them, which given what happened later with V5 shouldn't really surprise us.

Couldn't ebon dragon infernals, like, embody betrayal by betraying the ebon dragon (or something?) I'll admit that everything I know about this is third hand.

Augmetics are considered part of the idealized human form as an aspect of the Emperor in his form of the Omnissiah, the Machine God. Mutants are considered unclean because they deviate from that assumed perfection in uncontrollable (and worse, inheritable) ways. They're not an exercise of humanity's power over their own flesh, they're a defeat by nature or the Warp.

It isn't "cultural and social consequences" you twerp it's "I am in a body that is fundamentally wrong" But that's where Eclipse Phase is. You can just decide, "I want to be this orientation this week", and get a procedure done. The whole goddam point is that even core personal identity issues are fungible here

Zereth posted:I think even the "Bronze" they have isn't the same bronze we have in reality, for that matter. Gloranthan Bronze is made out of the bones of Storm gods that died during the Gods' War, and is found native in the Earth. Properly worked bronze is roughly equivalent to high quality iron or low quality steel. Gloranthan Iron is a magic metal made out of solidified death and invented by the Mostali. It is endowed with special power to cut through magic and harm the Elves and Trolls, and to this day the Mostali regret not giving it the same power against humans. The skill and knowledge to work Iron is a closely guarded secret held by powerful smithing cults; it has no relation to our iron. If you see a human with an iron weapon, especially a magical one, you should tread carefully. They are rich enough to afford the best equipment and powerful enough to earn it. wiegieman fucked around with this message at 23:56 on Aug 2, 2019 |

Mors Rattus posted:Now, he can still be loving up your turf, which is a good reason to want him gone and a good reason to fight him, but you can't actually call him evil any more than you can call fire evil for burning things. Sure I can. A fire is evil when an arsonist uses it to murder, and I have a hard time believing there's a case for the existence of someone whose sole reason for being is to spread disease and kill people.

I suppose at that point you're responding to a natural disaster and not a crime, but it still strikes me as something it might be worthwhile to get worked up about (especially if you're a rage fueled killing machine.)

Neopie posted:Oh, for sure. Just, an earthquake isn't morally wrong. It's an earthquake, it just... is. What if the earthquake is some kind of sentient earthquake actively seeking out towns to happen to, though? It might not have the moral framework to consider itself evil, but the people in the town would disagree. It's a problem I have with a lot of "plague god" characters. They say they're part of the natural world, I say one aspect of capital E Evil is deliberate harm and you should shoot them with magic bullets before you hand out free vaccines.

Mors Rattus posted:Werewolf is actually on your side - being natural doesn’t make it good. You absolutely should fight the plague wolf! He’s bad to have around! It just doesn’t say he is a moral evil, because that’d be Soulshitter, the Spirit Who Demands Human Sacrifuce For It’s Own Amusement. Both are bad to have around and should be fought, it’s just one is a talking natural disaster that can’t comprehend morality and the other thinks hurting people is funny. That's cool, like a lot of nWoD seems to be cool. They seems to Get things a whole hell of a lot better than the clowns in charge of oWoD.

Once hunters join one of the big tier 3 organizations ("Conspiracies") they get access to a specific schtick. Vascu agents have psychic powers due to radical FBI drug therapy, Task Force Valkyrie has high tech guns and devices, etc.

Warhammer campaigns should absolutely make the wizard run around and do stupid dangerous jobs to afford money in order to make it to tenure, because that sort of thing is where Warhammer is at its best. Sure, you have vast mystical power, but you also have student loans.
