I killed the dragon and have started the post game, but I’m not quite sure what I should be doing. I guess the main two locations are the everfall and bitter black isle, but I got my rear end kicked by a hydra in the everfall (I also forgot to bring recovery items and maybe could have done it if I hadn’t been stupid) and by a huge cyclops in bitter black isle (kills my pawns instantly, I do acceptable damage with six fold bolt if I can hit its head, but have basically no room to make mistakes.) I guess maybe I don’t need to fight the cyclops, but I still feel like I need an upgrade.

Is there a good guide on how to prepare for endgame and what kind of stuff (gear, level, etc.) you need to get ready for specific content?

I’m also just thinking of starting over and trying hard mode, since I’m sure I missed a ton of quests and such in the story content.

Make sure to use Magic Rebalancer (a Magic Archer dagger ability) regularly if you're not doing so already. It boosts your magic attack and can stack with itself up to 4 times, though once or twice is usually more than enough.

I finished up the ever fall and started a new game on hard (I haven’t tried bitterblack isle yet, though I think the environment and what I’ve seen of the level design was really good.) Hard mode is quite fun. I love the fast progression, that I’m filthy rich and that I have to take a more measured approach to fights. My pawns really are pulling their weight this time, whereas normal they usually just felt like they were distractions I had to keep picking up off the floor on tough fights. I wish there were a curve on the damage increase, though. Pretty much any big hit kills me from full health, and magic is particularly deadly.

I’m playing as assassin this time and having a lot of fun. I’m mostly focusing on the sword, shield and bow. I prefer the meaty feeling of the sword to daggers, but unfortunately it seems like daggers get all the cooler toys. I really wish I could switch weapons without going into the menu, though!

Holy poo poo why isn’t there a sequel to this game yet?

The secret solution here is the damage reduction augments. They're essentially useless in normal mode, but in hard mode they suddenly scale way up and become indispensable.

Fortitude, bastion, and awareness are all available at rank 1 from their respective classes. Stacking those 3 together will enormously boost your survivability in hard mode. Bloodlust and apotropaism are available at rank 4 from their respective classes if you want to take it even further.

I’m using Bastion already, and it makes a huge difference against smaller hits, but things like hits from a cyclops’ club still kill me from full health. That kind of stuff is very avoidable, but I still wish it weren’t a one-hit kill.

On the save file I just started I'm doing hard mode from level one and it sucks getting bitten by a rat or a bat and losing half your hp, I need to grab bastion. Also as a sorc the increased stamina usage on hard just kicks your your rear end early on, any cast of one of the super spells like bolide or maelstrom has you gasping, which is honestly kind of cool because it seems like casting those as a low level magic user should take it all out of you.

Apparently in the last year or so people figured out how to add new moves to things, I never really knew about it but I've been doing some research. Looks like there's a greatsword moveset revamp, a pretty cool unarmed one, and some others. Glad to see people are starting to mod this a bunch and you can do some cooler poo poo with it, might be time to reinstall. Especially the warrior one, they really needed some adjustments. Being able to set eight different abilities plus having a bunch of cool new ones is a fantastic addition to the game.

I hope modding expands to start putting in new enemies and areas. If Capcom doesn't want to acknowledge this game exists then someone should make a new campaign for it dammit!

We are almost assuredly getting a sequel, maybe an announcement this year.

What the gently caress, during the oxcart escort mission if you walk up to the ox you get a button prompt to kick it which makes it sprint forward for a while at the cost of doing some damage. I've done this quest a million times and never noticed that before.

Edit: And if you're standing too close it'll run your rear end over and kill you if you're low level on hard mode lmao

Yeah that’s the main reason my pawn starts with only heal, I kick it and get pushed away and take damage, then go kick it again. Eventually when you’re low enough your pawn will heal you and it’ll heal the bull too

On New Game+ playthroughs, you can bring items that will heal everyone in the area and plow through that part extra fast. Or just swap to Mage for that mission.

Do remember that Capcom got hacked and one of the things that got out was their release schedule through 2024. DD2 was set for Q2 FY22. As of February, Capcom said that the incident hadn't impacted their release schedule. Capcom's fiscal year 2020 ended March 31, so DD2 should be about a year and half away at this point.

Out of interest, how does this play? In principle it sounds like a fantastic idea, but reading the description it sounds like it was tuned to be romhack hard, is this the case?

Said list was basically confirmed by the Great Ace Attorney collection, too, because that was a long shot that people would not have expected would happen otherwise. Dragon's Dogma 2... real.

Getting the actual modern version of it is an enormous pain in the rear end, tho. From what I understand the one on the Nexus isn't complete, and getting the updated version requires going to their discord (that sucks,) and then getting it there - and they seem to kind of hide it, because with a bit of looking, I couldn't find it. But wait, there's more!! It was split up into two different mods, where one of them is designed for level 1-60 or and then the second one is 60-150.

To get this version, you literally need to DM one of their mods with proof that your character is at that level, it's complete nonsense.

When she made the mod she used a program she wrote from scratch and when people were like “wow this is awesome, can you share the modding tools so we can have more community mods?” She was like “no. I made this myself and if I made it you can too” and then never explained how she made it or how to approach making it and then also never released any mod again because she’s special and perfect

dd is kind of one of those games where you're inevitably throwing yourself against tougher and tougher poo poo just to see how you fare so if a mod eventually devolves into just putting in an absolutely amount of sheer horseshit for difficulty i wouldn't be too surprised. it wouldn't really be out of place.

Sleep, rest, do your best.
Kentaro Miura, the artist/creator of Berserk had his death from earlier this month announced today. I bring this up because the OG release of Dragon’s Dogma had armor from the series and it looked great, I was super disappointed that it was taken out for the Dark Arisen release. I may have to see if the PC version has it modded back in now.

They did say ahead of time they were not going to talk about anything other than more information on previously announced games. But yeah, still disappointing.
