Amusingly, it wouldn't actually - since you couldn't move, you wouldn't, and Jager wouldn't damage you. I guess theoretically it'd work with Grasp? The wording is just really bad.

How do you figure? It's just "if this effect causes movement not to happen that would otherwise have happened, character takes damage". Jager would work exactly like the edge of the battlefield except with another effect that took place when he stopped something from happening.

It wouldn't work with Grasp as written. The rules for activating effects are (or are going to be, not sure which) "you must choose a legal choice for any effect. If there are none, the effect does not activate." So you couldn't use Grasp to move the opponent onto Jager, because that's not a legal move. The effect is definitely supposed to be "If an opponent would move into Jager's space, instead they don't and they take 2 damage."
