I am very close to still being a Teen and I loved Still Buffering because it reminds me of myself just a couple of years ago in a really good way, because it reminds me that there were a lot of teens who were a little awkward and out of the loop as far as parties/music or whatever were concerned, and that I wasn't nearly as uniquely bad/embarassed as I thought at the time. Also Sydnee and Rileigh have great chemistry and there were some jokes that got smiles out of me, if not actual guffaws or anything.

I really liked this week's still buffering! Unlike last week, when Reiley was asking a totally hypothetical question that she didn't actually seem all that interested in, this week the question she asks is actually something she is dealing with and it lead to an interesting and funny conversation on how interpersonal communication has changed over the past 15 years or so

My favorite tidbit from the newest Still Buffering: The president of the Young Republicans at Rileigh's high school is openly gay.

Griffin referencing Jojo's in the latest rose buddies surprised me, but when Rachel didn't react and he felt obligated to explain "that was a really good animé joke" I snorted and dropped my phone on my face. Dammit, they've discovered my weakness of explaining terrible jokes.

Extreme restraints has come back a couple of times at least. I think, just a little bit, that part of the reason why it stopped was both because it was no longer getting a significant amount of traffic for the website (duh) but also because, even if it seemed like it, that well of comedy would have dried up sooner or later. Along the same lines, though, I sorta wish that Slipshine had been a sponsor for longer because if they had started doing some dives into those archives they could have discovered some serious poo poo, and if one of the brothers (okay it would definitely be Griffin) got, like, actually invested in some of those porn comics I can imagine that it would have led to some pretty great goofs Anyway that's my mbmbam fanfic thanks for reading

if you think that them advertising slipshine was any more weird than extreme restraints you're... I dunno what you are but whatever it is I don't want any part of it. and also if you think they haven't done vore comics then you didn't listen to the brothers and visit their special splash page. or read Urela or Galaxzy there's probably something in one of those

I still don't really get it but Justin' slightly delayed descent into hyena laughter with insults whenever he could breathe makes me also laugh like a madwoman

Travis is the funniest brother on MBMBaM because he doesn't have to try to carry the comedy and can sit back and listen and the drop a well-timed goof bomb that just kills it, but outside of MBMBaM he's pretty hit-or-miss (I've given up on Bunker Buddies at this point, but I'm still listening to Trends Like These because Brent is a funny enough foil that Travis can sort of do the same thing as he does on MBMBaM and sometimes he gets actually, legitimately angry at the bullshit in the world and that's comforting, somehow.) Justin is the funniest brother on his own, just floating out in space or on things where he has a consistent goof partner, and Griffin is the most flexible brother, able to fit into a whole bunch of situations and configurations and be funny in them regardless. Rileigh is the real top-tier goofmeister of the extended McElroy family, though. That girl's gonna go far.

Clint did actual professional comics writing for a while, he wrote a Green Hornet series and the official 3 Ninjas Knuckle Up comic, so he knows a ton of poo poo about comics. He also, more than just knowing comics, just gets comic book characters and what makes them work, as evidenced in this article Justin wrote about Batman v Superman where he talks about what superman has meant to him, and how Clint taught him that meaning. These weird, nerdy, sincere boys don't fall too far from their weird, nerdy, sincere tree is what I'm saying.

well why not posted:any professor oaks out there wanna explain how roll out is so deadly? People have compared it to hyper beam, which is okay since that's a move that most people have heard of, but I think a more fun thing to compare rollout to is Explosion. Explosion is a move that does exactly what it says, it makes your pokemon explode, killing it in exchange for dealing massive damage to your pokemon. Explosion's base power is 250. This is a slightly inaccurate number, because it used to also treat the defense of the opposing pokemon as if it were halved, giving it an effective power of 500. This was changed in Black and White (the games before X and Y), but the move was never buffed higher to contemplate. Regardless, when rollout was first introduced it "topped off" as a move that is slightly less powerful than exploding and killing yourself. Nowadays, it's twice as strong as that move. Rollout is also a rock type move, which means that it's basically infinitely better offensively than a normal type move, being resisted by more types but having no type be immune to it and having 4 types that it's strong against. Not relevant to the video, but fun to know, is that if you use the move defense curl before using rollout, it doubles the power of the move, making it start at 60 power and top out at 960, higher than any other move in the game. And, as someone said, Azumarill is a fully evolved pokemon that will (50% of the time, or 100% when fighting against real people) have its attack doubled by its ability, which actually means that on average its base attack stat is somewhere around 110 because of weird poo poo that makes stats bigger. That's a big attack! Azumarill is also Water/Fairy, which is a really good defensive type which means it's only weak against grass, poison and electric type attacks, and it has a huge amount of HP and decent defenses. Basically, Azumarill is an already good, fully-evolved pokemon against griffin's team of babies and middle evos and griffin had no way to hit it super-effectively, and he has a tendency to ignore status and stat-changing moves that could have made that fight much more bearable.

TBH I do think that X and Y should give you the old EXP share in addition to the new one to give you more control over the difficulty of the game and the way you want to play. The old one where it's a held item that affects one pokemon at a time would be much better for griffin since he's only rotating in one or two new guys at a time whereas the new one was designed mostly to either make the game easier or make it possible to play like I did, with a rotating roster of literally 20 pokemon who were all 2-3 levels lower than the trainers in a given area/gym (which is the most fun way to play, imo, but people have their preferences)

I dunno, the fact that they just recreated a pop-culture character instead of going crazy with it made it fall a little flat for me

He mentioned Justin and Griffin by name in the farewell article he wrote two paragraphs after the one where he thanked everyone else. Justin and Griffin probably didn't get included in the "you got this" part because they are, and they've admitted, fairly vestigial to the operation and are gonna continue mostly doing their own thing. I wouldn't read too much into it.

Someone asking that would be really rad actually and I'm sure the McElroys would be super nice about it even if they couldn't spin the best jokes out of it
