Did they film this a long time ago? I remember seeing a recent-ish picture of Goodman where he'd lost a ton of weight, but in this trailer he's back to fat loveable John Goodman. Lotta beloved celebrities dying lately, and it can't be healthy to yo-yo your weight that much at his age.

Most definitely filmed before the weight loss. I'm happy for him. In one interview, he says this is the best he's felt in years.

So Season 4 rebooted a lot of stuff and some people didn't like it, but I thought it was ok because it de-emphasized the "Peter as chosen one" stuff that had been ongoing since like Season 2. Season 5 is a shortened order and it's basically an entirely different show, just with the same characters, but it had a very satisfying conclusion to the series.

Cautiously interested in this. A John Goodman film set entirely in a single cellar is super appealing. Actually as much as I want Cloverfield 2, I'd probably have preferred that they just made The Cellar and didn't have any Cloverfield references at all. Let it be its own cool John Goodman movie, yo.

Along these lines, I'm now thinking of the production history of the Die Hard franchise: http://www.denofgeek.com/movies/die-hard/21313/the-strange-history-of-the-die-hard-movies Just about every film in the franchise was a non-DH script that was reworked to be a Die Hard movie. Heck, not even the first Die Hard was intended to be the iconic franchise starting Die Hard that it became.

ARGs are dead because the studios finally realized that the people who follow them would go see the movie anyway. That firm that did the Dark Knight and Tron games did a gum campaign and a car campaign and hasn't come back to movies.

I'm skeptical that this is an official ARG. The 10CL trailer makes it sound like the Cloverfield incident (early 2008?) sent John Goodman underground. Why is he the February 2016 employee of the month?

Honestly, I think what killed ARGs are the fact that some laws and poo poo came down that made these things HAVE to include the legal information from the film/show/whatever. I don't think they're legally allowed to do these things without saying "it's an ad" completely up front or something. I think that's what the people who worked on Lost said.

I'm more and more convinced that this is another movie with CLOVERFIELD added to the title. I doubt that'll affect my appreciation for the movie, but it'll reinforce my belief that movie studios and ad agencies will sell their soul and their own rectum to make a buck.

Cloverfield fits rather perfectly in a triple-feature with The Mist and Monsters: Dark Continent. If you called this Monsters 3 or The Mist 2, it wouldnt make any difference.

Going into it knowing it wasn't originally a Cloverfield movie reduces the sting a bit, but I'm lying if I said I wouldn't be a little annoyed if Clover doesn't show up in some way or form. You buy a seat for Godzilla, you expect a giant monster. X of the Dead, zombie violence. Paranormal Activity, bass thumping and jump scares. Transformers, giant robots punching each other. Cloverfield, same thing with Godzilla.
