Good to know the tribe walled off those sand wastes for a reason.

And Gori just kind of... falls into a harem. I guess it's his turn to be out of the party now?

It's not really a time-traveling game until you've thrown down with a tyrannosaur.

AlphaKretin posted:It's not, though, is it? As far as I can tell these are just stories happening at vastly different times in the same world. Well, okay, time-spanning game. If there's any prehistory, there must be that tyrant lizard.

I would say that this is just an example that mankind never changes, but somehow I doubt that anybody's going to start a cult dedicated to propitiating that behemoth. Stranger things have happened, though.

Pittsburgh Lambic posted:As a comparison, think about if there was a videogame adaptation of the original Alien where you played as Jonesy the cat. You'd wander around the ship and listen to Ripley and the others talking while they landed on LV-426; you'd sit in one corner of the sick bay while Kane was rushed in with a facehugger around his head; you'd be stuffed into a cat carrier and forgotten until the very end, when Ripley had almost lost the will to go on but found renewed purpose in saving your life. The whole thing would flow similarly to Cube's chapter in Live A Live. Even though this wasn't what you were talking about, I would totally play a weird fusion of Tokyo Jungle and Alien Isolation about being a pet trying to survive to the end of a horror movie.

I'm glad we actually managed to stop Rachel from getting out in to the harsh vacuum of space. ...kind of odd that nobody said anything about something in the system trying to get her to do it, though. Maybe it was a tight-beam transmission to her that we happened to pick up on?

Yeah, the crew eval really ties this whole thing together. But for all that, even with tensions running that high, it didn't seem like this kind of disaster awaited them. Though it could just be some extreme misdiagnosis on the crew's part, assuming every failure was due to sabotage when in fact they were all just really poo poo at maintenance.

I never thought of the Master as that small. I guess you lose certain things when you're converting to reasonable sprites.

I dunno, the caveman chapter was also pretty traditional. Unless the greater amount of found vs. crafted equipment here is pushing it over the top.

Isn't there a bonus boss in the caveman chapter too? The King Mammoth or whatever the biggest thing you can hunt is? Not to disparage the ninja chapter or anything, Though it is kind of odd we're picking up so many pieces of armor that slow us down.

Yeah, it's interesting how the castle is... evolving, I guess you could say? Some fights you want to avoid but can't (can you run from them?) and the traps are ramping up.

You could hit up the end boss, but you still haven't got to the payoff for not killing women? Dang, must be some kind of weird secret.

The end of the Wrestler chapter just being some random dude jumping the protagonist as he jumped others in the past speaks to nothing if not man's eternal quest for a place to be free and bodyslam each other.

So basically you're walking around beating up street punks and their increasingly elaborate mechanical escort in order to get parts to upgrade a killing machine made out of some poor kid's pet turtle.

I wonder if Hash was basically one step away from being Odio all this time and he only held out because he went to live so far away from everyone that he'd never meet anyone to betray him.
