Definitely better than I expected from the terrible reviews. I'm on board for at least a few more.

While I didn't expect they would be faithful to the comics I wish they hadn't made it yet another police procedural. I'd rather have "Lucifer is bored, got out of hell and now has a bar, to pass the time he meddles in the life of his costumers and other humans around him". So they could have self contained episodes with some metaplot in between (just like police procedurals) and the liberty to focus on different stuff instead of just helping solve crimes.

Or do episodes/seasons focused on different groups of people and make Lucifer and Lux be a constant background for the different plot threads. I think he could work better as a secondary character, the constant to the show.

Well, I'll probably watch it for at least 4 eps to see where it goes.

If that were the show, I guarantee the general response would be "Why don't they make the super-charismatic Lucifer character the focal point of the show instead of these less-interesting regular people?'

I liked the pilot, and the second episode continued pretty much all the things I liked. Definitely going to keep watching.

Maybe the fun will wear off quickly but Lucifer being smug and just playing with people is enough to keep me interested. Seeing Lesley-Ann Brandt, the good Naevia from Spartacus, is a plus too.

That's why I recognize her!

Does anyone know of a time ever in the history of television when this stupid bullshit has worked, and network meddling in broadcast order has improved or saved a show? Like even once?

Not Fox, but Happy Endings had a bunch of later-season episodes frontloaded after the pilot. The feeling was that they were funnier and a better representative of what the show could be (which was correct). It led to some weird plot stuff later, but that's less of an issue with a sitcom I suppose. Show made it 3 seasons.

The gay security guard was hilarious. Especially when he showed up to escort em out and just shrugged like "Sorry man".

I'm thinking the detective lady (god I am horrible with names on this show) is a nephilim.

She's talked about her mom, but I don't think she's mentioned her dad. It makes sense that another angel (or part) could injure one.

Plus, according to the previews, it looks like she's the only one causing him pain.

She mentioned that her father was a cop, and that's why she went into policework once the acting didn't pan out.

I seriously thought it was Bela from Supernatural, but she's on The Walking Dead. Her and that actress can be twins or sisters.

Yeah, they have the same eyes.

Interesting that while Lucifer's charm powers don't work on Chloe, Amenadiel's seemingly do. Kind of undermines any theory that she's part angel or whatever.

Well it seems like they are doing the The Lord Works in Mysterious Ways even from the angelic perspective thing. I certainly don't get the impression that God has given any of them direct instruction in quite some time.

I think it's very much that Amenadiel "doesn't like things that are different". He views the divine plan as something immutable and discretely laid out. He's trying to set right what Lucifer screwed up. But it's almost a given that this is an inaccurate view of the divine plan.

It was obviously a joke, but Amenadiel did say "Why don't I go ask Father for some rain, to make it a moment" when Chloe stormed off at the auction, so the implication is that God is still around and reachable. I think it's probably just that Amenadiel hates his new job and God told him to either do it or get Lucifer back to do it instead.

I don't think that was powers, she just thought he was charming.

Maybe, just seemed like the same way they present people like the therapist reacting to Lucifer's charm. And Chloe's not exactly a huge flirt, liable to instantly gush over a handsome stranger.

This is very good news. I don't know if I should be surprised by it, since I haven't been following the ratings at all, but I am, and it's good.

The first season of Murder in the First on TNT had just one case that took up the whole season, from investigation to trial and a little after. The second season largely abandoned that structure, but still only focused on two or three investigations.

The one thing I don't understand is why he doesn't reveal to Chloe that he is really Lucifer via his eye shift.

I understand why he didn't let her see it this episode because he was suspicious of her and was playing things close to the chest, but why not before then?

Everybody he does that to runs screaming, and sometimes they're also driven insane by it. He wants her to believe him, but he honestly doesn't seem all that bothered by her skepticism, and I doubt it's worth the risk of driving her away for good.

Remember, the one time she caught a glimpse of his devil eyes in a reflection she immediately pulled her gun on him and looked terrified.

My only disappointment was that Chloe was completely unaffected by seeing Lucifer up and about immediately after being "fatally" gutshot.

Not really true? In this show, at least, the angels seem to all be strong/fast/tough and have one unique power. Lucifer can find someone's deepest desires, Amenadiel can slow time, Uriel can act like a whiny poo poo and dress horribly see and manipulate patterns, etc.

Lucifer didn't lose that power when he cut off his wings, but Amenadiel lost both his power and his wings when he lost faith in himself.

Well Amenadiel also used to be able to teleport and stuff, right? Lucifer prayed to him that one time so he'd appear and stop the bullet and he showed up out of nowhere. That seems like the primary ability granted by wings.

He probably thought it would pigeonhole him and make it harder for him to get high-profile work after the show. Good thing he dodged that bullet!

Nobody move and nobody gets hurt.

I mean, it's kind of crazy how Lucifer's next move after the face reveal fails isn't to call Linda and Amenadiel and have them confirm his story to Chloe. Right now Chloe pretty much just thinks he's created some elaborate lie to shield himself from reality or something, but if two other people including a psychiatrist sit her down and tell her "Yeah, he's Lucifer, that Lucifer, it's just that you kind of nerf his powers somehow" I think she'd have to believe them.

I find it weird how they've seemingly completely dropped the Lucifer/Chloe stuff. Like, at the end of last season before he got knocked on the head weren't they just a step removed from starting something serious? Since he tried to show her his face there's not even a hint of anything between them, and now they're setting up the Chloe/Cardboard Policeman romance plot.

I'm not totally in love with the whole romance subplot, but dropping it so casually feels like it kind of short-circuited both of their character development.

You're not wrong that the storylines seem kinda hosed, though. Where did Tom Welling's character disappear to?

He got shot. Ella had a line in this episode about how he was only a week or two away from returning from medical leave.

Still shocking they didn't dust off the song tho. If this had been supernatural we would have gotten the song.

Didn't Lucifer play the song on the piano in his club in the second or third episode of the series? They probably felt like they couldn't use it again.
