The guy playing Lucifer is pretty damned charismatic - he's actually likeable - though I do hope that they show him trying to do more hosed up things like setting up the duel at the end of the last episode, because he is the Devil after all.

I thought it was a great touch that the hench-succubus set things up so that while both guys would get punished, because they both deserved it, the one who actually killed people was the only one who was going to actually die, because his sins were worse.

The grin and facial expressions he has really sell it for me. He just looks mischievous when he grins.

It's something I think only really works because we, as the audience, get to see Lucifer both when he's being the mischievious trickster as well as when he's in full-on punishment mode.

Normally he has that big grin, but he also has this care-free, almost goofy affect to him. It's juuust shallow enough for other characters to suspect it's a facade, but then...

When he's truly got his ire up and is gonna gently caress up a fool, he uses the same grin. It's just his eyes that change, all the goofyness is gone, they're just flat and deadly. Not to even get into the demonic flashes bit. Lucifer when mad is scary because he uses the same goddamned face he does when he's joking around with you, and it's unnerving as hell.

The casting for Lucifer is freaking perfect.

Amenadiel seems like, as an angel, he believes that he is a part of God's design, and he is angry and confused about Lucifer not only not thinking that God's design is important, but flaunting his role in it. Also considering his line to Luci "You wanted free will" it's possible that Amenadiel doesn't even believe in his own free will and thinks that his actions are basically a part of the divine plan. When he realizes that it is possible for his course to cause him to fall as Lucifer did, it might cause him to realize that it is not his role to enforce his interpretation of the divine plan, and instead he needs to be doing the sort of things he's supposed to.

Now, my last two posts have a lot of speculation based on just a few things in the last episode, so I'm really curious to see where they're going with this. I'm just happy to see that, like Dan, they aren't going the two dimensional route with Amenadiel either.

This last episode actually got me wondering if Amenadiel is actually supposed to be trying to get Lucifer back, or whether he's sort of going AWOL himself. I mean, if you start from the position that God is omnipotent and omniscient, then he had to both know that Lucifer would leave Hell and have allowed it to happen. Maybe God is okay with this, and chose Amenadiel as Lucifer's long-term replacement?

Then Amenadiel is like "nah, gently caress this" and goes off hunting Luci down, abandoning his post just as the guy he's after did. And we haven't seen anyone else from Heaven to back up his story, its' just been him, Luci, and Maz for non-humans on the show.

I'm probably way off base, but it felt right in the moment.

So am I alone in thinking that that one quick scene with Maz pulling out a Luci-feather from her little jewel box might imply that she had something to do with the wings being stolen in the first place?

So... The doctor finaly managed to resist Lucifer's charms. I wonder if that's a matter of 'exposure' (building up a 'resistance'?) or if he really is losing his powers gradually?

I might be really obtuse, but is the show playing that angle? Lucifer pointed out his situation wasn't anything like the jealous guy's emotions and when he asked Chloe, she said she agreed.

Lucifer's in denial and Chloe will say whatever to get him to shut up.

I think my favorite joke in this last episode, despite being totally immature, was Lucifer's reaction to the whiskey with pickle juice chaser: "Need to have Maz try this, she loves a salty aftertaste." :stonklol:

Wasn't there a scene in an earlier episode with Lucifer walking around in a robe (so post-sex) with a dude and a lady still in his bed? The implication seems to be there, at least.

Of course, but if I was a writer, and I didn't want the batship tumblr brigade to plaster my show all over facebook for being "part of the problem", I would just avoid the issue by not putting it in my show for mainstream audiences. Again, I'm not saying it's ethically right to avoid talking about minority issues, but it's certainly socially and financially safe to do so.

Or you could just ignore the crazy people.

Avoiding the issue (if you wanted to address it to begin with) us, in a sense, caving to the expected response right up-front.

I don't mind procedural shows per se - the problem is when a show/episode is ONLY a procedural.

A procedural A plot is fine if you don't want to make a show that's 100% serialized, but you should find a way to make the B plot tie into the overarcing metaplot in some way.

A good example of this is Person of Interest (which is starting up again soon!): The first season is pretty number-of-the-week, but there's some hint or progression for the show's main plot hidden somewhere in virtually every episode.

Yeah. This last episode was okay, but the case of the week was super boring and predictable and Lucifer's character development is progressing at a snail's pace. This episode had lots of good moments, they were just wrapped in the blandest package.

I actually though all the stuff with Padre Pederast and Lucifer was some great character growth.

I honestly teared up at the end when Luci was playing Stairway to Heaven.

So I watched Hot Tub Time Machine 2 last night (side note: that movie is loving hilarious) and now I'm tempted to go back and see if the nudie movie Chloe was in was ever named in the show. I know there was that scene with the daughter and DVD box, but IIRC we never actually got a look at the cover.

In my head now I'm imagining Chloe being in the first Hot Tub Time Machine. Just because I find it funny as hell.

I'm fine with 13-episode seasons. Honestly I find that most shows that drag seasons out over 20+ episodes tend to end up with a lot of filler to take up time. I'd rather a dozen quality episodes, thanks.
