Yeah it's completely random but I've been lucky recently and got a bunch of silver Tokyo keys and a couple of gold keys.
Also there's an NPC standing next to the gate to the camp ship that sells different items daily for star gems and meseta and one of the items she can sell is a gold Tokyo key for 5 million meseta if you have a bunch of money lying around.

Yeah I've seen them for sale before, and I still have another 12 million or so banked from a lucky gacha pull back in like fall. I sold a pair of socks for 27 million meseta, and it sold in like 30 minutes. To this day I have no idea why anyone would want any pair of virtual socks enough to spend a virtual fortune like that on it. :psyduck:

That being said, I think I'd rather hold on to that meseta and use it for dress up

Some info on Buster Quests that came out in the last couple weeks:

20-minute time limit, 4-players required. no solo shenanigans here.
Defeat the golem for an S-rank, otherwise if you time-out your rank is dependent on the "combat strength gague", possibly a combo of both tower HP and collected crystals; not sure.
You get rewards even if you time-out or fail, so even if a run goes badly it's not a complete waste of everybody's time.
There is no difficulty level selection for Buster Quests. instead, you will gain rank for successful runs, and your rank will modify your stats accordingly. It will help level the playing field so people at any point in the game can play with each other, but it's not a complete equalizer, since I assume it won't affect stuff like class skills and weapon potentials.
Enemies will be weak to Fire, Ice, and Light
Cross-Block Matchmaking will be available (for all quests too I think), but you can still lock your search to people in Expert Blocks.

There are three versions of the quest: Main, Advanced, and Free.
Main and Advanced have a shared daily run limit: twice per day, and resets at 5am JST (4pm EDT)
Advanced is harder than Main, and if you fail you will lose rank. So group up with people you trust to have your back!
Free Matches can be run as many times as you like, and clearing them will earn buffs that apply to your Main Match runs.
You can also restore Main/Advanced run limits through Free Matches, up to three additional runs per day.
I wish they made Emergency Quests work like this

They will play like a mining base quest but with a bunch of extra poo poo like defense, attack, and buster phases

Defense is basically what we are familiar with. Defend your towers from enemies while collecting crystals to fortify your defenses.
4 players in the MPA will be able to use crystals at the buster piles to create stuff. There are 4 categories of stuff: offensive, shielding, unique, and balanced
Some stuff will automatically target enemies on their own, others will need to be manned.
Other examples of stuff include a targeted satellite strike referred to as the Photon Punisher, and a Telepipe Cannon.
There are enemy barriers on the map that debuff you if you try to cross them, like apply weak bullet to you, however the Telepipe Cannon can be used to bypass them. (as well as Hero's talis warp, maybe more)

Buster phase has you escort the Buster Piles to try to break down the walls of the castle. Once all of the walls are destroyed, the Attack Phase starts. if the piles get destroyed, you go back to a Defense Phase. There is also a chance the Buster Phase may simply restart instantly if Seirra feels like intervening.

Attack phase is just you and the group going into the castle to destroy the golem dude at the center. The castle golem might start attacking your towers if you are too slow in this phase. Deal enough damage here to move onto the final phases.

Final Defense: bombs/meteors will start to rain down on your towers, stop them since they are like the Vibrace Bombs.

Final Attack: Finish off the golem.

The quest is balanced with the intent of having to do the Defense and Buster phases twice, but if your group is good enough you could clear it in one cycle.

I looked back at the trailers a bit ago, looking closer at the castle made me realize it's kinda like a Darker Den but with a coat of castle-themed-paint on it; not like "just a re-skinned area" but more like there are crimson veins running through the carpets, and darker crystals on top of the castle spires. also all the "demons" have darker cores on them, for example, the goblins appear to have darker cores for eyes.

it looks like converting the Tokyo Old-Type weapons into new-types just takes potential level x 10 + grind level; you would still want to get their element maxed first, but this seems like a really easy way to beat that +35 weapon requirement for the level 80 cap unlock and expert block access.

it will take a chunk of meseta though; some of that can be mitigated if you had some Grind Skip 5s saved (or find one in the treasure shop). you would also need to get grind success +30%s and use grind risk reducers in case you do roll that 20% grind fail rate

also, this person did this for Science, so they didn't max the element on that sword, but if you plan on actually using the weapon please max the element before you convert it.

EDIT: oh right I forgot it also takes a lot of lambda grinders to grind an old-type 13-star. also, there are collection files for the old-type tokyo weapons too right now, all of them seem really easy to complete

oh they just have +35 unlocked right away, so you just need to make sure to max element them first

last post about this: if you want to use this to unlock your level cap orders, you cannot grind the weapon past Potential Level 3 and +4.

you HAVE to grind the weapon as an NT weapon to +35 for it to count, :siren:if you exchange your OT Weapon for a pre-+35 NT weapon it will not count.:siren:

yes this is stupid.

I'm just gonna continue ignoring level 80 and focus on getting 3 classes to 75. Aparently braver counts as a ranged class for the purposes of unlocking Hero, and I already have hunter and force at ~50 on my account. A ranged class would have been the biggest pain to level but I guess I'm set on that score.

Fun Shoe
I recently started playing this game (I'm familiar with the old Genesis games and the Gamecube release of PSO1) and the gameplay is fun enough, I assume goons are playing on Discord?

Also holy poo poo the story seems to be really, really dumb.

Yeah, discord is where most people who play here post. Also yes, the story is very dumb. Sometimes in a fun way, but it starts out very slow and boring.
