I've been sitting here for 5 mins trying to think of a joke to make but I just realised the animators of Mass Effect already did it for me

It'd be funny if the aliens could have random war bonds, but given that they are basically all puppets I guess they don't really have personal attachments or motivations.

Inversely proportional to however useful the reaper class is.

Alternatively: As the fun of using any class approaches a hypothetical 100%, so does the visceral need for LW devs to nerf that motherfucker into oblivion.

Oh man, it would be great if I could have two bonded rangers perform a twin sword strike against a single target. Perhaps that could remove dodge chance and/or give a crit bonus chance.

Also, any mechanics that make reapers reliable sources of anything must be nerfed into RNG to keep players from becoming complacent and confident.

I pumped up the damage and crit damage of the katana mod by like twenty and for the first use of Reaper in a session I always make sure to turn on either Rules of Nature or Yakety Sax on my phone, depending on how spicy I'm feeling.

One time I did it I fatfingered "The Next Episode" by Dr. Dre featuring Snoop et al. and I decided to run with it.

I mean, I get the idea behind this, it making so that nothing is 100% reliable means you will be forced into situations where you must take risk and cannot take anything for granted, thus providing challenge (or at least, forcing people out of their comfort zone), it's just that it turns out making nothing 100% reliable is highly unfun to most people.

I can have moments of... eccentricity and sometimes be quite curious about things. Please forgive me if I do something foolish or rude.

I'm okay with most of my stuff not being 100% reliable, but I also really like having one or two aces up my sleeve that I can count on in a clinch.

Then again, I'm also one of those players who doesn't really like building up a huge bench. I like developing a core A-team armed to the teeth, and I find that makes losses and mistakes much more meaningful. It's not time for another timmy, it's a real blow to lose one of my priceless soldiers to the medbay for a long time or worse yet losing them permanently.

Am I the only one who still really enjoys LW2?

I take the riskier moves first so there are still backup options, and a majority of the shots that my snipers and assaults take are still 100%. The game is definitely slowing down now but it's not the worst thing ever. Yet anyways.

After beating it up I'm enjoying the core gameplay of LW2 well enough, it's just that like its predecessor I still have the fundamental issue with the Long part.

Specifically, the fact that doing jailbreaks and whatever is fun the first, second, even third time around.

After the tenth time though I really want to find out who's brilliant idea it was to come up with the Vigilance mechanic and making it affect the Avatar Project timer depending on how many missions the player has done in the month, because man LW2 missions start blurring together hard after long enough.

Past a point you're not really doing anything actually engaging, you're pretty much just doing bland feeling mission after bland feeling mission for the sake of not being sucker punched by a surprise bout of avatar project points just as you're about to advance the story, rather than as part of any greater strategy.

Like the early game's actually really fun to me since it feels like I'm working for concrete goals (get this scientist, liberate this region, get more recruits, etc) instead of it me just wrecking ADVENT's poo poo constantly so they don't ruin my poo poo out of the blue.

Not in the least. I'm still enjoying it though I think it could use something like LW1's Dynamic War option.

If everyone hated it it wouldn't be controversial and nobody would bother talking about it. It's just that just ENOUGH people hate it that the slapfights that discussing it often starts can have two sides.

Personally, I love what I understand it does to the Tactical layer (for the most part, the utter powerlessness of grenades to destroy cover outside of two perks annoys me), but I hate nearly everything they did to the Strategy Layer.

Apparently in the new photo booth mode, bonded soldiers get special poses they can do with each other. Also you can take a photo after every successful mission and pose each soldier individually.

All these changes and posing my loving gi joes is the thing I'm looking forward to the most

Goddamn, I just had an excellent campaign ruined by an unlucky hidden event. Now that the expansion is coming out I wanted to go back and finally beat the game, on Classic Ironman. After half a dozen lost campaigns I finally got far enough to get a captain and a full sized squad. Then all of a sudden a hidden event trips to add the last two pips to the Avatar project and start the timer while I'm still three regions away from any facility. Naturally I dropped everything to focus research on intel items and started making contact. But after a frantic terror mission playing carefully to keep my best soldiers alive and unwounded for the facility raid, I ended up short four intel and had to build a radio tower, putting the final region contact two days out of reach. Time for a break from this game.

Doesn't the ADVENT blacksite always generate one connection away from your starting region? Your objectives say you could still complete that. Even in that screenshot I can see the mission is unlocked and can be started right away.

Wait, would that have reset the timer? I thought only the actual Avatar facilities did.
