What is it? One of the most highly sought after JRPGs of last year, Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth, is finally coming over to US shores for both PS Vita and PS4. Despite being on both platforms, there is no cross-buy, but the game is cross-save if you decide to buy both copies. How much is it? PS4 version is $59.99 VITA version is $39.99 VITA version is available only via PSN. PS4 has a physical copy. Pre-ordering the game gets you this: Version Differences? PS4 runs at 1080p/60fps where VITA is set at 30fps and resolution depending on your system. I.e. 720p on VitaTV. PS4 has sharper and cleaner character models. Environments very much look like an upscaled VITA game. PS4 takes up a whopping 2.5GB VITA is 1.5GB How does it play? It's a turn based RPG where your three dudes line up against the enemy in an Final Fantasy 10 type way where the battle order can be seen on the right side of the screen. You can also substitute your three Digimon warriors out from any party members you have sitting in reserve. There's a maximum limit of 11 Digimon at any time, but your party makeup can only have so much 'memory points.' Digimon ranks determine what their memory point total is. I.e. babies take up 2-3 points whereas megas can take up 20 points. However you want to get your math on. You'll be able to increase your max memory the more you progress in the game. In order to 'capture' or recruit a new Digimon, you have to face it in battle enough times to get a 100% data rating. Since encounters are random battles, this shouldn't be too much of an issue. Before traveling into a dungeon, it will tell you what kind of Digimon is found in that location. AFIAK once you achieve 100% data, you can simply create as many of that Digimon as you want. Otherwise, you can discover new Digimon by digi-evolution. When your Digimon reach a certain level they can digivolve into a stronger form. The resulting evolution is dependent on level and by reaching certain stat points. For example - Agumon can digivolve into: GeoGreymon Greymon Meramon Tyrannomon Sukamon Each with their own stat, level, happiness, or item requirements. The best part is that digi-evolution is completely your choice. No randomness involved. You can even devolve your Digimon if you want to go back a step, or you need to acquire a certain skill to re-evolve into a different form. Got all that? There is also a DigiFarm where you can level up inactive Digimon or train specific stats in order to achieve certain digi-evolutions. Online features include battling your friends and their Digimon. (I don't know all the details about this). There is also a New Game+ mode for anyone who wants to start over. What Digimon can I play as? All the playable Digimon are listed below. The best Digimon is Toy Agumon followed by Gaomon and Numemon, don't @ me. Here's a visual representation of all the Digimon in the game if you don't know your Scumon from your Ikkakumon. http://kotaku.com/all-240-digimon-in-digimon-story-cyber-sleuths-1735370618 Harlock fucked around with this message at 15:45 on Feb 2, 2016 |

From what I read starting Digimon doesn't matter - you can get the other two within the first two dungeons. You just have to go from the baby form

I wouldn't switch to hard until you get at least 3 Digimon. You can get plowed by the opening dungeon.

This was a localization probably hastily put together with the numerous script issues and given no promotion. The only people buying it are JRPG / Digimon fans to begin with

Finish Chapter 1 and once you're able to leave the Detective agency to get coffee there's a "DLC Vendor" right outside the door. You might have to play a little longer to get access to the DigiLab if you don't have space at the time.
