Hey nerds, in addition to reading at least 1 series that includes Beef, I'm picking out a book in my TPB backlog to read for the month of February and thought y'all might help me pick which one to do this month.

My picks for Feb are:
1) Copperhead Vol 1

2) DMZ: On The Ground Vol 1

3) Star Wars: Darth Vader Vol 1

4) Burn all three books, start again.

Obviously if work/school is't too crazy this month I could easily have time for all of these but I'm picking one book that I will absolutely read at minimum.

My principles force me to suggest burning the Brian Wood book and eating the ashes on a hamburger bun.

Copperhead is pretty good but I felt it really left ya hanging at the end. I should pick up the second one I liked the first few trades of DMZ but never finished it for some reason. Copperhead more sci-fi with aliens and poo poo. Kinda reminded me of the movie Outland a little bit. DMZ is a little more grounded. Escape from New York ish?

Copperhead is good stuff. DMZ is alright. Haven't read Vader.

Has anyone tried Comic Bento? For $17.50 they send you 4 or 5 trades a month based around a loose theme. It seems like it would be an interesting way to read new things. They sell past boxes and one of them had a Sonic collection but you also got Contest of Champions so it seems like a total crap shoot.

If you have a good way of reselling the trades you don't want, it could be fun. Otherwise, it's a great way to have a bunch of things you'll never read/re-read sitting on your shelves.

So it turns out that TMNT bundle I bought, I thought I was buying like the original run, but the IDW series is from 2011 :sweatdrop: But it's ok, I've seen some panels of that before in the panel threads and I heard good things so on balance it's probably for the better. Also, Eastman was 24 when he co-created TMNT? drat.

Some teeth long for ripping, gleaming wet from black dog gums. So you keep your eyes closed at the end. You don't want to see such a mouth up close. before the bite, before its oblivion in the goring of your soft parts, the speckled lips will curl back in a whinny of excitement. You just know it.

Escobarbarian posted:

I didn't like it. It's got an interesting concept and a lot of cool worldbuilding that never actually comes up in the story itself, which basically spends all its time running in place and left me cold.

Also DrProsek, read Vader, it's really good.

It's pay what you want on their website so you can check it out before you buy it. The hardcover is near enough but it's not the ideal way to read it by far.

Here's what the average person will think: "Wtf dude you're reading a book with negro on the cover?" I read comics and had to look it up because I didn't know what it was do you really think knowing it's not something offensive is common knowledge?

This is America where you can be shot for being black and walking at night. Racism is kind of a problem here.

So this years Angouleme festival has been total failure. First the festival got a ton of poo poo for not nominating any women for the Angouleme Grand Prix. Then the director of the festival, Franck Bondoux, decided it would be fun joke to announce the wrong people as winners during the awards presentation. Olivier Schrauwen for example was announced as the winner of the Fauve d’Or which is a really big deal, he got on the stage and was even handed the award before the host said that it was just a joke.

I thought it looked kind of terrible, but I picked up the first issues of all the other Aftershock comics, except the Ennis one, and they were good. Especially Strayer and Super Zero.
