counterfeitsaint posted:There used to be a quiznos around here that I would go to. I never met the owner but the employees were constantly complaining about what a cheapskate he was. Apparently one day he just up and hosed off. The employees eventually stopped coming in, probably due to not getting paid anymore, and there was this weird notice of abandonment thing on the door. Ghost Quiznos. If you listen at night on a full moon you can hear this playing ever so quietly in the distance: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZuPTZWhz46M

BigBoss posted:Playboy just released their first "new" non nude mag. They've got like a year, maybe 18 months left. Honestly that seems like the most sensible thing they could do. They can't compete with Internet porn, they might as well try to rebrand themselves as a Maxim style magazine that teenage boys are actually allowed to buy. Magazines as a whole industry are dying, so it may not save them in the end, but trying to reach a wider audience can't hurt. The ironic thing about the old joke is that a lot of people actually did read Playboy for the articles. They actually used to have really good interviews. If they fail it'll be because websites are obsoleting magazines in general, not because they stopped doing nude centerfolds.

Booblord Zagats posted:Their interviews haven't been good since 2011 or so iirc. All their better writers got jobs with more respected outlets like the New Yorker and Esquire and some ever work for TV production companies doctoring scripts I did say "used to". Maybe they'll try to raise their respectability and get some talent back. I doubt it though. They'll probably just become a Maxim clone and fade into obscurity. The magazine will keep going in some form until Hef finally dies and then probably get shut down or turned into a web portal or just become a t-shirt brand like Atari or CBGB's.

You're not actually going to get a ton of benefit from anything it does and I've seen a lot of dumb users mess up their systems with it or do things they didn't mean to do like delete all their browser cookies or gently caress up something in the registry. There are a lot of people out there who learned a few ok-at-the-time ideas about computer maintenance a decade ago and don't realize that e.g. defragging your hard drive isn't something you actually need to manually do on a modern PC.

paco650 posted:Lil' Hefner opens up about how Playboy is being run into the ground after being asked to gently caress off from the Board. I'd be surprised if Playboy still exists as a magazine after 2018, and as anything other than an 'Ed Hardy for Women' brand beyond that. "Hugh Hefner's 24-year-old son, Cooper," lol Hef is like 90. How weird must it be for your whole existence to be the result of creepiness.

I don't remember what quiznos sandwiches taste like but I'll never forget that time they thought it was a good idea to license an intentionally lovely flash animation from a b3ta.com poster.
