Basically, Boz is arguing that Facebook, as a social media service driving content to people based on algorithms, is just a reflection of human desires. The algorithm gives people what they want, for good or bad. And Trump won the propaganda war on Facebook simply by knowing how to leverage these algorithms to bend individual desires to their purpose (getting Trump elected). The problem, he argues, is not with Facebook, but with individual responsibility of people using it.

That's the same justification drug dealers use when they sell fentnyl laced heroin to junkies.

Yeah, having actual families doesn't really make sense within our lifetimes. Government-backed/corporate research is possible, but the pie-in-the-sky dream of moon mining doesn't really make any sense. Unless you find a solid ball of rare-earth metal near the surface, unrefined ore wouldn't be valuable enough to ship back in quantity when industry numbers are measured in hundreds to thousands of tons a year.

The dream of resource extraction in space isn't for the purpose of bringing resources back to Earth, with some exceptions. The idea is that building an extractive and manufacturing infrastructure in space makes everything else (further exploration, colonization) incredibly, fantastically easier.

Mars colonization would almost certainly get a lot of people killed! My main objection is not with extra-terrestrial resource extraction itself, but that even with the most optimistic projections, Mars would be an absolutely miserable place for humans to live, and so I see charitable donation to their cause as akin to tossing coins to the East India Company Mark II. I also apologize for not elaborating on this further but it has been discussed ad nauseam in the space thread, which is the best place to revisit the debate if anyone is so inclined.
Colonizing the Americas got a ton of people killed and was a miserable experience for like 100 years.
