It was a very different game back then. IIRC there were leagues that entirely banned smokes for a chunk of original CS because they performed so poorly on people's machines and had a tendency to crash you I don't recall if that was a thing in CAL/CPL but I remember that being a thing in PG and OGL when those were things

Between poor smoke performance, the one-way smokes people already mentioned, lack of molotovs, and poor map design (scrims on de_dust and de_aztec,  ) there was a lot less room for super coordinated executions and skill at CS basically came down to reaction timeI mean we used to coordinate smokes on some things but it was nowhere near the level that the pros go to today. I think I knew maybe 2 set smokes per map back then

I'm 99% sure CAL also had Aztec in rotation but can't remember for certain. This just reminded me, though: what happened to prodigy?

what is the trick to getting this stream to not suck horribly? someone mentioned something about hiding the chat in some special way? is it just the settings button under the chat window to 'Hide Chat' or is there something else I should be doing cause it's like every 3-4 rounds it lags out and never catches up so I have to refresh and watch a drat ad again
