https://twitter.com/ChampJulius/status/696781925432877056 Commemorative thread for the BEST IN THE WORLD. Bryan Danielson is my favorite wrestler of all time. I can't claim to be a guy who had been watching his career from the very start. I missed seeing his ROH title run as it was happening. In fact, I only found out who he was exactly 1 month before he lost the title - when Nut Bunnies posted a thread about him. Now - with his career coming to a close tonight - I thought we should have a thread celebrating it. Talk about favorite matches, segments, promos, whatever. He's had a fantastic career. Let's talk about it.

Bryan Danielson is an awesome wrestleman and I'm very glad I got to see him on a WWE Tour here in 2014. The whole arena was yessing with him, it was amazing.

His match with Morishima is one of my favorites. It makes me sad that it no doubt contributed to his decline.

I was aware of Bryan before he signed with WWE but never actually watched him until he started on NXT, where he instantly became my favorite part of the show and WWE in general. His run towards WrestleMania XXX is probably the most fun I've had as a wrestling fan since the Attitude Era. And while it was kind of a goofy mess, I'm glad I saw his only PPV title defense, against Kane at Extreme Rules, in person. I'm glad he got out before he became another casualty of the business, and I'm glad that, in a sport dominated but some of the absolute scummiest motherfuckers on the planet, a genuinely decent man can go as far as Bryan did.

Going to a bunch of ROH from '04-'07 was cool, but I will never forget seeing Danielson-Strong go 45 in Chicago at Vendetta. I think that match ended at like a billion o'clock and the adrenaline crash from that match basically had me sleeping in my car before I could drive home.

Bryan Danielson got me into watching ROH back in 2006 when my interest in WWE was at an all time low. Because of that guy I've got a poo poo load of indie wrestling DVDs. Bryan, Nigel, and Morishima are now all retired.

Thank you for getting me back into wrestling. I'm going to miss your intense and awesome matches and even though I missed almost every significant part of your career, I still think you're one of the best because you gave it your all in every match of yours I saw, whether it was for the title or curtain jerking against some shmuck.

Once I saw Bryan Danielson at an ROH show not long after he made the amazing Hybrid Dolphins (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FSh2s_lmthI) video with Paul London. Lots of people buzzed when he came out. He totally lost it in the middle of his Final Countdown entrance. One of the funniest moments I've seen at any live entertainment even, wrestling or otherwise.

Also he's my favorite wrestler of all time and has been since '04. It was the most insanely rewarding career progression to watch everything happen in real time, even the really lovely booking and purposeful burials WWE did because it ended up being so cathartic and amazing in the end.

Bryan Danielson is my favorite wrestler ever without a doubt. Bryan vs KENTA from Glory by Honor V is probably my favorite match of all time. Although it was because of CM Punk that I first watched ROH, it was Bryan who got me hooked. Bryan's WWE run was so goddamn crazy and good that it kept me hooked on WWE all the way until the injuries started piling up. Once he fell off, my enthusiasm for pro wrestling as a whole fell off, and now I don't watch it anymore. But I'm definitely gonna go through my DVD collection and probably marathon his WWE career on the Network when I can catch Mania in the month sub. He was the best in the world.

Got to see Daniel Bryan win Money in the Bank in Chicago as well as his last few matches at Wrestlemania Play Button and the RAW afterwards. The best live events I've gone to. While I didn't follow him in the indies, him being in the WWE was one of the reasons I got back into watching wrestling. It sucks knowing we won't see him wrestle again. Man... It's almost been a year already.

I've watched wrestling since before I can remember and I have no question that Wrestlemania 30 was the single happiest moment that this dumb form of entertainment has ever brought me. We stood in my living room yessing at the top of our lungs while everyone had tears in their eyes. No other wrestler but Bryan could do that.

For the short period of time (2004-2007ish) I was a rabid ROH fan, Bryan was far and away my favorite wrestler. Even when I gravitated more toward puro and didn't get to see a lot of Ring of Honor shows after he'd dropped the title, on the few shows I did watch (and which I watched specifically to see DB), I could always get into Bryan's matches despite being mostly unfamiliar with their backstory. To me, it really felt like his work consistently had a level of depth to it that was unmatched by just about anyone. I seem to recall his first title defense against Roderick Strong featuring practically no high-impact or signature moves, yet being highly watchable, and the low-impact approach of that first encounter in turn made the brutality of the second match (or at least its finish, which I believe was the first time he won via death-by-elbows) stand out that much more. I always really appreciated his ability to switch gears and never stick to a set formula; his work really made wrestling seem like improvisational art to me in a way I hadn't considered it before. His WWE style was obviously a lot more formulaic, but he worked his rear end off and put on stellar performances whenever put in a position to do so. We don't get RAW here, so I don't know what happened on the show, but if his in-ring career is definitively over, I hope he can come to terms with it and find creative fulfillment in something else. I'll miss seeing him perform--though I honestly found his final run to be slightly uncomfortable to watch; it was a bummer seeing him do pretty much the exact same crazy poo poo he'd been doing instead of switching stuff up, since he's clearly able to do wrestle all sorts of styles--but I was happy and honestly pretty mindblown by the success he achieved. Never in my wildest dreams would I have expected him to become champion in the WWE, let alone headline Wrestlemania. That my favorite wrestler, who I felt was so un-WWE that I expected him to job to the Simon Deans of the world before immediately getting let go, would organically become the most over, most cheered-for pro wrestler in a long time is still incredibly surreal to me. Hopefully they compensated him well for being such a workhorse and giving it 110% even when he was way more over than his push and was clearly being held back. Good times, great memories, and his "best in the world" moniker was totally well deserved.

In May 2014, I signed up for the WWE Network as a lapsed fan because I was intrigued by the ability to watch all the PPVs of my youth. After I burned through a few of those in a week, I decided to watch the most recent PPV, Wrestlemania XXX, to see if any of what was going on currently was cool. Despite knowing nothing about it going in, I fell in love with Daniel Bryan as a performer. Watching WMXXX was responsible for me getting back in to wrestling, and my wife getting in to wrestling at all. I was so enthralled that I ordered some of Bryan's ROH DVDs and quickly consumed those, which led me to getting in to indie wrestling big time. If it wasn't for Daniel Bryan, I wouldn't have this huge chunk of my life. Thank You.
