Nope. The devs said they couldn't figure out how to import them over. I have no idea why but you start from scratch.

I couldn't even remember how to get most of my stuff back. I did so many levels to get back a silenced sniper rifle before remembering the Ghost one you get from super easy escalations that's the best one in the game anyway.

It's not that I hate it. It's that I loathe it.
Are we talking about how to do First Time Hitman? Awesome, I have the best method:

Step one - Don't look at the challenges, just launch the mission!
Step two - Find a mission story and start following it!
Step three - Get distracted by things like 'I wonder what's behind that door?' or 'This guy's dressed different, I bet I can knock him out and steal his clothes without anyone noticing'
Step four - Inevitably piss off the guards.
Step five - Kill the guards shooting at you, get a new disguise and run to another part of the map where they're not being such jerks.

Repeat steps 2-5 until so many guards (and civilians who looked like they might have had useful disguises) are dead it's trivial to take out the targets.

Check the challenges in the finish screen and repeat the map if any look really hilarious.
Otherwise move onto the next map - and this time I'll try for Silent Assassin on the first run*!

When you run out of maps go back to the start and work through in order, this time staying on the same map until you have most of the challenges done, including SASO.

It's how I did 2016 (I got it after all the levels were released) and it's how I'm doing this one!

* Actually did SA Hawke's Bay first try, but that's not exactly hard if you're a returning player.

How does the car opportunity in Miami work?

You sabotage it to get Robert Knox down, and I figured out the additive that makes the backend explode, but when he comes down he asks you to get in the car. If you actually do this he, and any guards around, yell at you to get out. When you get out the guards escort you away and Robert says "Hey I wasn't done get back in"

Getting in the car doesn't have a suspicion warning icon either, so it looks like it will be fine but isn't. Is this bugged?

Are you disguised as an engineer? Engineers can sit in the car without anyone raising a fuss.

There is indeed a little bit of strangeness going on where if you trigger certain scripts with NPC's they'll continue to talk to you even if you're in the wrong disguise for their dialogue.

Man, the Miami map is huge. I followed the story mission to the combat robot demonstration but then the hints ended. I figured I needed a picture of Robert Knox but I must have spent near an hour running around the map trying to work out where I'd get a picture of him.

Do unlocks from the S1 levels carry over to the new ones immediately and if so, is there a list of these and what I need to do to unlock them? I started playing yesterday and I'm planning on working my way through all the new stuff before going back to explore the old levels again but I might unlock a few choice gadgets from S1 if they give me more options earlier on.

I love the second map involving the cartel marks, I must have played it 4 to 5 times now.

Still need to do the remaining missions I hope the following maps are just as good.

Also I bought the £55 version of hitman 2 however I own the previous Hitman game. Was there a cheaper upgrade I could have bought instead?

No, the unlocks don't carry over unfortunately. You can check here for a handy list of unlocks: https://www.hitmanforum.com/t/hitman-2-complete-list-of-unlocks/26215

the expensive version of hitman 2 is just prebuying the expansions when they come out, you didn't buy the first game twice or anything.

Castle is pretty crazy and one of the harder ones to actually visualize mentally.

You get the old levels of Hitman s1 whether you buy s2 or not. The more expensive ones give you Sniper Assassin.

It's not super common but the game tends to soft lock on loading screens than anything else. If my load bar stops between the O and A of LOADING, it's done. I'm currently save scumming like mad so it's only annoying for now.

Any progress or unlocks previously completed from S1 do not carry over. But all levels from season 1 and season 2 in hitman 2 share unlockables. Idk if there's any big advantage whether you want to immediately retread s1 levels, maybe get a sniper rifle slightly faster.

is there another set of keys in the miami area? I found the key that unlocks the medical cabinets as well as the event area key, but have noticed that there are still doors locked to me, such as the employees only door to the south of the sotteraneo garage. Is there a key for this door? Maxwell's office is also not opened with the event area key but I assume he carries it on his person.

Exploration is ill-advised.
It's been so long it's retro.

I haven't finished the plot of Hitman 2 yet, but from what I read some people seem to be under the impression they're soft retconning or downplaying 47's genetically engineered origins... though I kinda don't see that, especially since there's notes like the Hokkaido medical report staying he has the body of a 20 year old despite the plot later confirming he's at least in his fifties. The Shadow Client being a childhood friend of 47 from the same brutal assassin training facility doesn't seem too weird to me; like any good experiment, you want a control group to compare your genetically engineered killing machine to.

I just did the mission story "An Apple A Day" in Whittleton Creek last night and there's a TON of exposition about 47's genetic engineering if you let the target talk for a while without killing him. Way more than I remember seeing anywhere in 2016

Having not played any of the S1 missions besides the boat tutorial and not seen anything really besides Paris and Sapienza it's been fun going through these for the first time. Totally going to need to come back later with the mission guides on so I can see everything.

My Paris was a shitshow where I tried to lead someone to the balcony so he would meet with Viktor, never found that balcony, and then the guy just walked off and gave up. That was followed up with finding Dalia, following her for a bit til she went outside and just uh shooting her from around the corner and somehow I avoided detection there, got down to the lower floors, tried to do the same to Viktor only to be seen and had to just run like hell out of there.

Sapienza I found a couple mission stories and followed them for relatively easy assassinations but got spotted in the virus area and had to hole up on top of the building with the hazmat suits. I ended up having to kill every guard in the room plus like 3 from upstairs that wandered down due to the commotion but I survived. It was kinda nuts because i ran out of shotgun ammo with several guards still slowly inching forwards and had to use spaghetti cans.

Game good, gonna be fun trying to do that without uh murdering everything because I got spotted.

Balcony?? You, uh, you might want to pay more attention to where that meeting's supposed to happen. It's in a gazebo.

You don't really need mission guides if you turn on the opportunity markers. At least, not for most things! The challenge descriptions can give clues, too, if you don't want to do that.

I set things to minimal and just wandered around on the maps. Probably need to mess with that again at some point. Also totally read/heard northwest pavillion but thought northwest balcony. whoops.

edit: like most of my problem was not knowing where anything was in Paris. The two missions stories in sapienza I ran into I did a better job on (private detective and flower delivery). I kind of just found them while wandering around the map which was fun.

It also doesn't help that many of the old routes no longer work properly in the legacy maps. I almost shat myself in anger trying to get SA/SO in mastery mode Bangladesh earlier today before I gave up. Those two loving sound engineers next to Jordan's sound booth
a) can no longer be separated in any way. They always, always move together with one following the other closely if you try to any kind of distraction
b) they can no longer be lured close enough to the door of the bathroom by throwing a coin inside the bathroom, they are programmed to block out noise inside the bathroom

Both of these changes must have been made intentionally. I was sometimes able to lure Jordan close to the bathroom door even though he was further away than both of them. Yet, he too will not ever get close to the door so that you could grab him.

c) if you lure both sound engineers to the door at the same, you might have the clever idea of waiting for both of them to turn around and then grab one as he is leaving. This will no longer work either, although they've given them both a hearing impairment this does clearly not apply to choking sounds.

I can't even think of any other way where you could possibly isolate Jordan Cross to get SA/SO. He is never alone AFAIK except while he's in the sound booth. And you absolutey can't get there without beeing spotted. Or at least I just can't loving figure it out.

Edit: I'll try an audio distraction device, but I'm not hopeful.
