I'm calling that The Church of Ascendants are going to be the main villains. Dahlia brings them up and I think someone else does and in the Sapienza ending cutscene reveals that the rogue assassin is trying to take down Providence, which definitely sounds like it could be related what with the religious aspect.

Yeah they wanted a grindhouse type story and they had no feel for it at all. You can see those touches all over the previous Hitman games but Absolution took it to the max and totally screwed it all up.

Absolution really needed to be its own series. Some kind of stealth/cover shooter in the Splinter Cell blacklist vein. Rewrite the grindhouse stuff by someone that knows how to do that right and it would have been a good spin on that type of game.
Man if Absolution had House of the Dead: Overkill's writing it would have made up for the crap gameplay.

You need to unlock it by doing challenges/completing escalations in the Paris level.

The one you get from Paris doesn't have zoom. You can unlock a rifle with zoom in Sapienza but its not silenced.

You can go full-on horror movie because its set up so that the target comes into the morgue and faces the body opposite you, so as soon as she turns her back you rise up like a zombie or something.. Pretty awesome, plus you can unlock it as a starting point too.

So here's my question, that I think I know the answer to. Do you just have to kill the target and it automatically counts, or do you have to kill them and then finish the mission as usual and make your escape? I'm guessing it's not as easy as just running up to them and gunning them down in front of their guards to get credit.
For The Forger all you have to do is kill him and it counts, just don't die. From the sound of it though other targets will be more like Escalations where they will have other requirements you need to fulfill.

I also hope they just add the targets to the game on their own because its neat. I killed The Forger but I was rather sloppy about it, but hey all that mattered is that I killed him and got out of there.

Got him with four stars. I went rather sloppy because I got caught on camera and I though the glitch was still active, but nope.

Missed SA because I just chucked in a knife in his face down in the wine cellar

One complaint is that they put places where you could kill him surrounded by staff so it feels like it forces you to be really cheesy or sloppy.

I'm surprised this game isn't getting more love on the awful forums. Has there been any indication on how well the game has sold? Seems like it is critically well received, but relatively little discussion about it.

Also, I'm a first timer to the Hitman series. I tried Absolution for a couple of hours but bounced off it, same with Blood Money (I came to the party way too late and couldn't handle the aged visuals), so does anyone know of a good "beginner's guide" type of FAQ? All I can find are videos or super detailed walkthroughs, and I just really want a few pointers.
A good tip for Blood Money that makes getting SA much easier is sneaking up and taking a person hostage with a pistol and knocking them out counts as non-lethal and stealthy so long as you don't let anyone else see you do it. So you're not just limited to the two shots of the syringe sedative.

Instinct is a good way to help you along without being really handholdy, it and the minimap will show you people that can see through your disguises. (White circles are above their heads/they appear as white circles on the minimap). Also use Instinct to make finding items a bit easier so you're not just aimlessly checking every table. Melee weapons are also really good and you should use them.

You can restart/replan as many times as you like, so long as you don't die or kill the target.

For example I got caught and I reset. In my second successful playthrough I just sniped him from the barge, didn't get a good high score (I don't know how I got spotted) but it felt good because I used the silenced rifle so I had to really observe where he was and I got him in one clean headshot.

I set it up on both sides first, then I called Strandberg, then Zayden. One trick with Strandberg is he won't leave so long as you stay far enough away from him so just wait until Zayden goes to meet him.

I did have one goofy and a bit frustrating moment where Zayden walked up to Strandberg and yelled in his face, "WHERE'S STRANDBERG?! HE'S NOT HERE!" and then they left right before the solider activated the generator.

You can kill him there, or when he goes his way back, as then the guards doesn't seem to escort him properly (one in front, one behind).
This was what I did. I tried killing him with a remote bomb but I missed so I just followed him and then killed him after the lockdown went away.
