Would you be my new best friends?

Started playing this recently and I still haven't left Paris because doing the challenges is so much fun. Should I continue to just play each level to exhaustion before moving on or does it make sense to continue through the story and come back to stuff later?

I only ask because I've played 15 hours so far and I'm still on mission one, I could see this taking up a LOT of time :allears:

So I didn't read up on this game at all before buying it when it was finally complete. The Elusive Targets, they're randomly selected and placed within one of the game's pre-existing levels? If you don't kill them before the time limit does it eventually roll back around to them? If I've already done Hokkaido (which I haven't yet) do you get access to all the unlocks/abilities from mastering the level?

Well poo poo, I better get on them then!

I think I found the female Doctor but I haven't tracked down the disease yet, you can only kill them once right? Or do you get the full stretch of time to take them out in multiple ways?

Yeah I've restarted a few times now - I've figured out how to get around most of the institute freely but I haven't been able to get the Director alone yet and get all-access clearance. I got about 40 hours to figure it out though!

It's a shame Tilda Swinton has way too successful a career and she'd never be available, but maybe Olivia Colman will v:shobon:v

Don't work on your mastery in the ET mission. Just do the Normal Hokkaido up to 20 to get all your unlocks. That makes the ET a ton easier. You can get to normal Hokkaido from the Destinations tab, don't use the ET link on the start screen.

That's like six episodes down the line though right? I don't want to rush through the other levels just to get to it, I still haven't moved on past Paris.

I got those Hokkaido Elusive Targets and Silent Assassin too, yay me! :woop:

I should have taken out that rear end in a top hat in the hat to start the mission off (I did the first few times on aborted attempts) because he always seemed to show up where I was just as I was grabbing somebody/doing something shifty.

I've cleared through each level now so I went back to do the escalations. I was having fun on the Adrian Eclipse then I got to Level 4 where you have to always have a pistol equipped (you get seven seconds to re-equip if you holster it or you fail), AND you can't wear guard uniforms AND you have to kill both targets within 30 seconds. When I saw those settings I swore and exited the game because the hell with that.

Like 30 seconds later I thought,"Hang on.... maybe if I....?" and loaded the game back up :allears:

Long story short, I've now cleared all 5 levels of the Adrian Eclipse!

Welp I just failed the Elusive Target. I got the ledger, I got him alone in a room, I walked up behind him with a lethal syringe, it said,"Hit x for lethal injection", I hit x.... and 47 kicked him in the knee and punched him in the throat causing an entire battalion to rush into the room and light me up :sigh:

Weird, I loaded the game up again and the Elusive Target was still available, even though I had died and was told I had failed the mission, which I assumed was a permanent state of affairs.

Still haven't been able to get him alone like I did that first time though, he either ignores sounds (not even sending his escort to go look) or heads off in completely different directions each time.

Well I guess all things even out, now it lists the mission as failed for me so I guess it was an online thing - I was trying to set him up with the fire extinguisher after the lethal poison syringe bugged but I had it down in the hall instead of up the top of the stairs which would have made more sense, and now I won't get another chance at it. No luck for me on this one

Never thought I'd say this but I actually regret not buying the game episodically rather than waiting to get it all at once. I feel like just as I'd have felt I'd gotten used to a level/done everything there was to do, a brand new episode would have come out and let me start fresh again. As it is, it's actually quite overwhelming just how much content I still have to play.

Finished the Lyndon Gyration, stopped trying to go unseen and just blasted my way through it instead. It's done and I don't have to worry about it anymore.

Got to the lab one where you need to hack the laptop, finally cleared my way through that annoying room with 4 psychic techs who register the nano-second you look at the laptop. I went up the top, tried to entice the target up to the generator and like every other NPC on the level tried to come up first. Finally the target came up and I killed him.... and forgot I was supposed to be wearing the lab tech disguise at the time :cripes:

There is a point at which it is safe to hack the laptop without knocking anyone out. I believe the window of opportunity starts when the female scientist is walking toward the consoles to your left if you're facing the laptop. As soon as she crosses behind one of the pillar things, start hacking.

I noticed that whenever I removed her from the room, if I started hacking the laptop every other scientist in there, no matter which way they were facing, would immediately spin around and go,"HEY WHO ARE YOU!?!" - was that just because I removed her? I did notice that when I did it the first time when she was still in the room nobody noticed until she turned around after like 12 seconds and spotted me.

Actually pretty easy. Suggested route follows. This will get SA, though it's fairly slow. This escalation is called "gyration" because, practically, you're supposed to take advantage of the turning practices of enforcers to navigate the space. This approach skips most of that.

Because of the three targets it just got too frustrating for me, I'd get it perfect for the first two and then one dude will turn his head slightly and spot a nondescript guy walking down the street doing absolutely nothing suspicious and immediately fly into a panic and call the cops. In the end I just ran up and punched the targets in the face when they were near a scooter, dragged them a couple of feet and set off the oil puddles. If the citizens are gonna be suspicious of me, I'll give them something to be suspicious about!

Just got SA on the latest Elusive Target. Yep, worked long and hard at it and succeeded in the end.

I mean... I would have, if after getting the tracking bodyguard away, getting the target to come down downstairs, killing him, dragging his body to a hiding spot, putting him in the hiding spot and then closing the lid on that hiding spot.... a guy didn't just suddenly barge through the door as I closed the lid the last 1/16th of an inch, gasp and go CRIME NOTICED meaning I had to KO him before turning to the right and walking right out the exit to a 3 star rating (I killed the witness in a fit of pique).

Killing Ken and Jordan while wearing the outfit was pretty fun. Jordan has just enough time to register him in his vision before it all goes black, and I kinda love the idea that the actual stalker probably got the blame for the murders. I do miss the newpaper articles from Blood Money that were written based on how you handled a mission, I think it would be pretty hilarious to read a report about how the crazed stalker killer proceeded to strip naked and pass out in the bathroom closet where police later found him.

Man some of these Marrakesh escalations.

None of them are bullshit, they all have pretty straightforward goals and easily worked out strategies but they're also set up so that if you make a single misstep in timing it can trigger a giant cascade of failures. I'm on level 4 of the consulate one and I don't think I finished a single one of the previous three levels without inadvertently going on a killing spree.

I completed Marrakesh with the fortune teller challenges, I hosed up right at the start of the 5 different accident kills challenge and was so frustrated and stubborn I refused to restart and like 40 minutes later I managed to accidentally kill the last of them despite being hunted across the entire map. It was surprisingly fun!

Now to go complete the Himmapan Horror.

Happy to have gotten it done with Silent Assassin, I spent some time just hanging out/experimenting with stuff first to hear the dialogue, I love his beleaguered Agent. I completely missed the QA session though, which I feel dumb about since from memory it appears in the briefing video.

I only just really took a look at the suit unlocks and man that Winter Suit sure is pretty, but I've only done 4 Elusive Targets so far, failed one of them, SAed 2 and cleared the other noisily. I hope I don't miss out on it.

This worked for me but from everything I've read it's almost completely random in what causes it to trigger so your mileage may vary. I basically went around the map and collected as many coins as I could (12 I think), bounced them all into the pool and then threw in a remote explosive. That blasted all the coins back out, I collected them and tossed them back in and the challenge came up completed.
