It would be pretty funny if you could throw off pieces of DZ loot as you run from a pack of rogues to try and distract them, like a treasure goblin from diablo... I might also wish I could melee group members into a disabled prone for similar purposes.

A sight improvement on this is to have >1 player throwing an improved sticky at the pickup spot, and doing it right before anyone's got a chance to hookup their loot.

Then you just waltz up, snatch everything and put it on the rope.

You probably won't make it through the manhunt but there giggles are worth it.

I'll have to remember this. Can swap my pulse skill to sticky grenade, drop one on the point and waltz up knowing it's my own sticky there. Or just pop smoke and scare people to go into it as long as that still doesn't trigger rogue status effects.

evil_bunnY

I've never tried smoke actually, but I think rogue only triggers on damage/kills. It'd be too easy to game otherwise, especially with smoke. Here let me waltz into your concealment and make you shootable on sight by everyone.

I bought the regular edition for $43~ from them. Since there's no steamworks integration at all I didn't care about that. I've already got my usual gaming group in uplay from the beta.

So is this game any good solo, or does it really need at least one other person to make it worth playing?

evil_bunnY

Depends what you want to do. PvP is really, really hard solo. It's fun, but it really limits you to picking off stragglers and helping prey on rogues with little clue.
In a group of 4 you can stand your ground and gently caress poo poo up.

Judging from. The beta, Normals are do able Solo. Hard modes are for group. Dark Zone stuff in DZ01 is soloable in theory but you are likely enough to get you scarf taken by a rogue

If you're smart you can solo the DZ easily in my experience. Just gotta be careful when you pick up loot. If you get killed and haven't picked anything up your loot drops stay there so you can always high tail it out of there and come back later. It's what I did. Most of the time if I ran into a bigger group the rule of thumb was "if I have loot they'll probably take a swing for my scarf, but if I don't have anything they'll just ignore me." That didn't stop the occasional group from not giving a poo poo, but most people I came across must have decided that if they were going to risk going rogue they at least wanted something out of it.

Then just make sure you don't start extracting and you're the only extraction point lit up. If you wait for someone else to start extraction before you start yours it helps deflect some attention. I was regularly able to extract with nobody else around.

Additionally I'd also say be wary of how you traverse the map. Shy away from the middle of the street. Take back alleys and less congested routes to make your way around the map.

Hard is def soloable too, since the content levels to the group rather than having a set range (which IMO is a loving sweet idea. Kinda like how GW2 did it, but not as awkward).

Hence the vid of the one dev soloing that 25 content at 27 (I think it was at least). Its manageable, but you cant just auto-attack your way through (so to speak).

I know it makes me a big dumb idiot head, but they made the national guard outfit available to everyone instead of just season pass purchasers. Which is super cool and rad if you held off and didn't get the pass.

But on the other hand I really wish I had something to show people that I make really bad life choices. Aside from my SA account of course.

Still, though. They could throw a few balaclavas and hockey masks in, for variety. Maybe have a few guys go maskless, that way it's only one or two guys in a large group so you don't have the issue of constantly fighting twins.

Bantering with a buddy helps every game, though I didn't find it fully necessary to have backup in the beta. This could change in the full game, of course.

Bring a buddy, chat about scarves.
