Lizard Wizard posted:Second, you missed something exceedingly important in Majula. Warp back there and search extensively near the bonfire. Yeah, that's another thing you guys didn't really notice: You can warp between bonfires right from the start! And not only that, every single bonfire is warpable!

There's another way to stop enemies from despawning, and it's another thing you overlooked in Majula.

I applaud you guys for your tenacity, but have you maybe considered exploring down a different major branch if things get to be too much of a wall here? Off the top of my head your options are: going further down that tunnel in Majula with the rotating mechanism, somehow unlocking the alternate path in that tunnel, or going down the big Majula well. That said, I think you guys can complete this area if you git gud enough. Tarezax fucked around with this message at 04:48 on Apr 10, 2016 |

DrTempest posted:Episode 25: Not the Deadmines and Episode 26: Drunk Souls 2: The Lance Edition now up! You missed a switch up at the very top of No-Man's Wharf, because Dr. Tempest ran right past it and dropped off that platform without looking at it. There's also two secret doors in the area that you missed because you didn't read the messages in front of them.

yeah, probably the best way to break a weapon quickly is to kill a bunch of ragdolling enemies in the same spot and whack the pile of corpses repeatedly.

Well, since your save is kaput, I'd like to point out something you guys may not have noticed. Remember that coffin on the beach with the ogres? Remember how you got in it and nothing appeared to happen, but it reloaded the zone anyways? The coffin changes your character's sex That coffin was the source of a lot of confusion and outrage among some players who only noticed its effects quite a while later

So when do you guys realize that poison is not acid? Also acid doesn't break your weapons, only your armor/rings afaik.

Wow they made Earthen Peak a lot meaner in Scholar. I remember it being somewhat annoying but not to this degree, they added a whole lot of extra enemies dropping in as ambushes.

There's also a summonable NPC near that bonfire who will run to the windmill and point at it that was added in Scholar.

Yeah, every Great Soul boss has a Primal Bonfire behind it. If you're not looking out for it though, the Rotten's is probably the easiest to miss because the passageway is a bit hard to spot once the fog gate goes down.

Just so you know, most of the boss soul weapons come from another vendor. You've met them, but haven't found their new location. They're in the little canyon village area in Tseldora.

Abbess Feeva is mostly there to teach you that lightning doesn't do poo poo against Sinh. If you watch the video again, you'll see that her lightning spears do an amazing 9 damage per hit.

The encounter in front of the castle gate is supposed to teach you this, as the only way to open the gates is to kill something near the two golems at each side. Before the gates open, royal soldiers spawn infinitely so you can't screw yourself out of opening the gates. Somehow you guys never noticed that the little soul globs flew to the golems instead of you...

Fun fact: on release, Mirror Knight's lightning attacks had a bug with the sound where it did not respect your sound settings. And it also played at really high volume. I haven't watched the videos yet, but invaders in this area are added to a pool where Mirror Knight can summon you from his mirror during the boss fight. It's a mechanic that I wish FROMSoft had used in later titles, though the boss invasion bug in Dark Souls 3 sort of approximates this.

Addamere posted:Huh. We did not get any invaders, just standard soldiers. That's probably a function of multiplayer in this game being pretty dead at this point. In the first months after release it was constant player invasions for Mirror Knight IIRC.

Addamere posted:That must've been a real clown show, and probably would have made him the hardest boss ever. You'd think they would make the summoned soldiers at least be properly PVP-programmed phantoms. You'd think it would make him hard, but oftentimes the player invaders would spawn into the battlefield before they'd properly loaded into the game, and the big obvious summoning animation meant that players + phantoms could easily gank the invader before they could move. edit: I think it may also prioritize player invaders for people who bring phantoms into the fight. Another cool place to check out would be back in the room where you found King Vendrick. Specifically, the pile of armor where you found his ring.

So in this game, if you break someone's guard you can do a riposte on them while they're staggered from it. This applies whether or not you use the guard break move. That's how you riposted that one ice guy. Dark Souls 3 keeps this mechanic, while bringing back kicking from DS1. edit: Also the left trigger move on the ultra-greatswords you're using is their parry animation. In DS2 most weapons have a parry when two-handed. Tarezax fucked around with this message at 01:18 on Feb 9, 2017 |

You guys need to go back to where you found that first knight, because you missed something near that tower at the top. Something amazing. EDIT: Also you should definitely keep exploring the level, because there's two more knights you can find, as evidenced by their currently empty chairs in the room before the boss door.
