Okay, it's been a while, but let's see what I remember from DS2. This is mostly unchecked, so some of it might be bullshit.
Adaptability is not a trap stat, it increases Agility, which in turn increases the speed and iframes of your dodges. However, Adaptability is not the only stat that increases Agility.
Enemies that are killed enough times stop respawning. You CAN get them back by advancing the local area into NG+ and beyond.
To turn human, you use a human effigy. Burning it does something like shut down multiplayer for a duration I think?
Anything that's not completely broken is autorepaired for free when you sit at bonfires. Durability bars appear under your weapon icons on the d-pad interface. Hitting walls is bad.
Being summoned and successfully cooperating restores you to human and gives you all the beneficial effects of having used a bonfire without respawning your enemies. It also gives you bird stones to trade for fabulous prizes.
Weapon durability has a framerate bug, if you're on PC and attempt to fix it, you might get VAC banned.

Yeah after DrTempest actually inspected some of the stats in episode 3 and I saw the description on Agility I figured "yeah, no, that REALLY understates what this does and you are NOT going to get more information than that through only gameplay and LP editing".

If filling in some of the "wait, what the hell is going on here?" mechanics is spoiling, give the word and I'll redact my post.

I've been wondering if the controller was at all related to trouble kicking things, which is why I had asked in the previous LP, but an admittedly-cursory search of that model didn't turn up anything specific.

Lprsti99 posted:

EE: You also might want to look at the button prompt at bonfires a little more closely.
I was trying to remember how that worked, and this leads into an important point: Dark Souls 2 is different enough from 1 that trying to blast straight through using only familiarity with 1 can lead to overlooking things, general confusion, and death - see limited enemy respawns, human effigy vs humanity, and oh wow that fall damage.

In addition to only having something miniscule like 5 iframes on a fastroll at low agility, certain formerly-safe animations have windows in which you can just be slapped out of them in general, as you have discovered at the fog door!

Since this is a double blind LP of a souls game and the audience is undoubtedly throttling themselves trying not to go "do this now do this and do that and then do the thing with thing that does the thing with the other thing so you can get the thing to do the thing", perhaps exploration would be aided by whoever isn't driving having a notepad at hand. Why, no, I'm not suggesting this for the sole purpose of potential bonus materials in the form of illegible drunken scrawlings, why would you think that? :v:

Why are those alcoves there? Well, "it's a collapsed dwarven thing town" certainly justifies it. The place being named Doors of Pharros lends some credence to that. Remember, in Dark Souls, "close" is not merely "a reasonable striking distance."
"Close" is "armor-inspecting face-on-enemy-grundle-rubbing this-Taurus-Demon-is-not-anatomically-correct touching-the-enemy's-buttcheeks-despite-being-in-front-of-them" distance.

Also Dark Souls does not take place on a planet with seas of alcohol you can stop jumping in.

The Sinner does not teleport so much as they jump around quickly in a very dark area.
An area so dark that lockon range is shorter.
An area that can be relit by those two little side chambers that seemed otherwise pointless.

I think that at least some part of why you keep getting turned into Heide's mashed potatoes is a combination of enemy tracking and the way you're dodging.

The change to her inventory is kinda subtle to notice since you guys didn't buy much from her before, but she now has infinite lifegems. You also discovered the one-time interaction of receiving a gift after spending enough at her shop.

Other potential gifts and inventory changes exist, obviously. Some may or may not be incredibly hilarious. Would you like to know more?

If memory serves when it comes to the whole poison-coating thing, you can think of your entire character model as a vertical status bar, and the poison-coating drains down over time at a set rate, which has implications for how you approach the stuff and how much of it you come into contact with.

Earthen Peak's one of those places I never managed to get a good mental map of, and I'm pretty sure there's like at least double the amount of secrets you've found there so far, but damned if I could tell you where they are.
Also this is probably moot now, but the poison coating drains at a constant rate, so rolling through it just fully covers you and makes it last longer.

Myself, I had heard about burning the windmill before, but had no idea where the trigger area was or even looked like until a friendly phantom pointed it out. The little ramp up to the main shaft does seem like a significant level geometry oddity, but the main shaft itself having the appearance of stone or rough metal causes a lot of people to dismiss it, and then react with "that's not supposed to be flammable" once they see it happen or hear about it. But then again, a moving part like that is probably lubricated? I want to say that the grave warden guarding it is a Scholar addition to further emphasize that yes, this one spot is important. Not the greatest setup.

If it's a greatsword and dagger setup you want, though... any plans on doing DS3?

Straid's the legendary super sorcerer who figured out a whole hell of a lot more about what's going on than most people, and because of this was turned against and time-displaced. It's now many historical cycles later, he's basically been forgotten, everything's changed but at the same time not really, and the first person with the presence of mind to try unpetrifying him is an undead on yet another one of those vaguely defined quests to break the curse, but Straid knows better. What else is there to do but laugh at the sheer absurdity of it all, but especially at this bearer of the curse who keeps coming back to look at his stuff. And you know what? Why not add another to the pile of ridiculousness by making the bearer of the curse his first ever apprentice?

As for what the Agape Ring does and why, you'll want to look into the Soul Memory stat.
