I liked what I played of luigi's mansion dark moon but I wish it wasn't mission-based, I'd rather just explore the mansion at my leisure and unlock new stuff as I go instead of the mansion changing what places I can go into with each new mission

I agree, but at least Dark Moon couldn't be beaten in an hour and a half.

I don't think it is bad for a game to be short, tho luigi's mansion definitely could have been a little longer.

I felt really ripped off at the time. I thought I'd rent it to see if it was worth a buy and managed to beat it the first day, then the next morning beat it again and got the super duper S-rank. I was disgusted that a launch title had so little content.

It's a Metroidvania in the way that the map on the bottom screen truly earns its place as you pore over the blueprints, wondering if this room could be accessed from a hidden crawlspace, and in the way that it's perfectly willing to show you things - a buzzing lab, a tinkling player-piano - that you're not yet ready to engage with. Full-on back-tracking's kept to a minimum, perhaps, but the genre DNA is there all the same. It's a lovely thought that this gorgeously crafted confection might introduce a new generation to one of gaming's hardiest design templates.

Luigi's Mansion isn't a metroidvania, it's basically Resident Evil 1 (with less puzzles), unless you count that as a metroidvania in which case okay then.

Dark Moon is....I'm not sure.

Nah it was a dumb joke, I took that quote from an article that referred to Dark Moon as the Mushroom Kingdom Metroidvania, which is especially dumb because Dark Moon is even further away from being a Metroidvania than the first Luigi's Mansion.

idk i think luigi's mansion is still pretty fun despite its length and lack of difficulty. wario world shows you everything there is to see in the game in the first level and it's pretty lame

After playing through pretty much all the split-screen Resident Evil games and Brawl, Kirby Super Star, and Double Dash a few years ago my gf and I were kinda lost when it came to finding new co-op games to play together so I dug out an old EB Games gift card and went to the store.

I found Sonic & All-Stars Racing Transformed and I remember people saying it's good and well they are right! Kart Racing is a bit of a dead genre now that the N64/PS1 days are long gone, but there really wasn't much there worth playing to begin with anyway aside from Mario Kart and Diddy Kong Racing. I'm glad that S&ASRT is of comparable quality to them. I find it funny that a real-world NASCAR racer is a playable character.
