I nudge the eggs. Once I got a carton with one egg stuck to it. Of course that was the egg I tried to use first. So it cracked, its bottom stuck to the carton, and I had to remove the rest, storing them in a bowl where they took up more space, or at least a less-convenient space.

OwlFancier posted:We are not quite sure about that, also the UK has no customs infrastructure because all of its trade comes through the EU and has hitherto required no customs checks at all, the government has neglected to do anything about it other than declaring most of Kent to be the EU side of the border and building a lot of big car parks for trucks. The actual customs lane on the UK side of the channel tunnel is apparently about three trucks long. The government still has not been able to negotiate any trading arrangement because they have spent the last several years arguing about fishing, which is apparently the only thing anyone cares about despite games workshop probably having a higher GDP contribution than the UK fishing industry. Is it expected that some folks down in the southwest are going to embrace their ancestral folkways and start importing uncustomed goods in small boats?

Fartington Butts posted:The trick to corned beef is waiting until March when it's on sale and completely filling your freezer with it. I have a tiny freezer, but last March 17, right before going into hiding, I bought some marked down corned beef. Tasty with greens and either boiled or baked spuds. Bit of mustard, bit of horseradish. Good stuff. Still, I've never failed at opening a can with a key. Admittedly, that's only about 6 cans, but I'm not mechanical.

OwlFancier posted:Cabbage is not even the best brassica, which is sprouts. So, to avoid a transatlantic food-term derail, aubergines are eggplants, courgettes are zucchini, and sprouts are collard greens, right? The only real problem I have with cabbage is that there's so much cabbage inside of one. I live alone, cooking just for myself, so if I start eating a cabbage it takes me two weeks (a double-sennight).
