The mounts struck me the wrong way at first (HOTS!) but after thinking on it they would make a lot of sense in BLC and I'm sure they'll be fine here. They can basically function like WoW Arena mounts 1:1 and they'd be very fitting and actually have a reason to exist (chasing down a lone ranid when match is all but over, not wanting to pop movement abilities like ranid leap to get to mid asap) Very interested to hear why they removed the heal and resurrect abilities, though. If they're focusing on 2v2 and not 3v3 I guess they just want to nip the "1v1 that devolves into hiding and rezzing a guy" in the bud. Or maybe it's just alpha, who knows. I just wish they weren't so drat stingy on content. Probably the most important thing that's come out, until they give us some actual video of gameplay, is that the game is releasing this year and that the beta should start some time before summer.

Another thing that was mentioned, apparently the game has some weird bullet time feature whenever someone dies. Like the game announces "someone died!" and everything slows down a ton for 2-3 seconds. I guess the point is to let you know that your partner/opponent died, and gives you a few seconds to line up an ability and reevaluate the situation.

Tell your teammate to die so you can yrc for style.

Also I think someone said you get like 30% meter when your partner dies which I can't say I'm a fan of, but it's probably not a big deal. It's gonna be real annoying tiptoeing around killing someone when both you and your partner are at ~25% health and would die from the Ult you'd be feeding the other person.

https://twitter.com/Battlerite/status/720243038824431617 quit teasing, stunlock. btw, there's a tournament the last week of this month, for anyone still playing BLC and living in EU, to win battlerite keys. https://www.facebook.com/BloodlineChampions/photos/a.10150132448505469.335899.118513735468/10153938459265469/?type=3&theater

https://www.battlerite.com/ Gunner revealed Gonna guess they'll announce beta after they show off Vanguard and uh... Alchemist, was it?

Yeah, Alchemist was the other one who was shown off at the game show. The 6th announcement plus the BLC tournament for beta invites implies beta will be coming sooner rather than later, I predict early June.

Any word on server locations? I wanted to like BLC but being from Australia the lag made it unplayable.

Got too caught up in Overwatch hype, but apparently a bunch of new info is out... including confirmed EX abilities and Psychopomp! Plus some new stuff like brief slow mo for all players when someone dies. http://www.deathbybeta.com/2016/05/25/battlerite-update/ Another article hints that the gem/rune system may be returning in some form (noooooo) http://2p.com/42664127_1/Battlerite-Is-A-New-Team-Arena-Brawler-with-No-Towers-No-Lanes-No-Creeps-by-cindyhio.htm Lastly I share a nice meltdown over a picture of colored balls https://www.reddit.com/r/BattleRite/comments/4lb70r/blue_and_green_orbs/d3m1rt6

Minrad posted:http://www.deathbybeta.com/2016/05/25/battlerite-update/ Are you getting that from "Gain strength and unlock new powers by performing ancient battlerites. Pick your rites to counter your opponents and strategically customize your play style as the rounds progress."? Because the term "rounds" gives me hope that they mean between rounds of a bo5, like how you get to upgrade your powers between games of Warlock in WC3. I don't know how that would play out but it probably wouldn't be as awful as the League of Legends system.

I'll really dig this game if it plays similar to beta BLC. Hoping for 3v3 though, it gives more room for suboptimal class choices.

Christ, do I hate the way they're marketing this game. This is the best gameplay footage they've shown yet because battlerite needs to be as underhyped as possible to repeat BLC's success. Can't be too safe after how spectacularly Overwatch flopped! https://www.facebook.com/StunlockStudios/videos/vb.117206701652931/1231638646876392/?type=2&theater closed alpha starts this weekend as well, though you probably didn't get in unless you were a hardcore BLC poopsocker and you're european. no footage/pics/etc allowed so I hope someone just loving yolo streams the game for an hour to spite them. https://together.battlerite.com/ They're asking for people to make contributions to the community to help spread awareness of the game. "Do this by crafting web sites, fan art/stuff, videos.. whatever pops up in your mind. Every serious contributor will be rewarded with a beta key." And furthermore, "The 10 best content contributions wins an epic Battlerite Recruit Kit, containing swag, unique in-game content and the full launch edition of the game"

Tempted to spruce up the OP with some extra info, pictures, and a banner, and then submit a link to this. Is games paywalled right now? If someone wants to beat me to the punch though, go for it. I'm way more interested in being able to play with a friend, than getting in alone.

Great idea! I'll take it Battlerite is a top-down multiplayer brawler created by Stunlock Studios. It is a spiritual remake of their previous game, Bloodline Champions. It is currently in closed alpha, with a beta aimed for Summer 2016. A lot is still unknown, but here's what we do know: Gameplay Not much is known about the details of gameplay, but here's what we do know: Matches of Battlerite are broken down into rounds where two teams of two players clash in a last-man standing battle. Each character--a champion-- has unique abilities, all but the ultimate move available from the start of the round. If you can survive for a time, you will eventually unlock your character's ultimate move. If your champion dies, you must wait until the next round to play again. When a champion dies, the game temporarily goes into slow-motion, allowing for more precision in such a critical moment. Battlerite is specifically made to appeal to a competitive player. Each match will last about 10-15 minutes, making it a great game for people who don't want to make a large time commitment. Furthermore, there are no random elements in Battlerite--damage is entirely based on concrete factors like distance from target, angle of attack, how many attacks have already connected, etc. Giving Battlerite its name, there are "Battlerites" that can be selected before a match begins. Most people assume that these are passive bonuses you can select to specialize your characters further. In the few screenshots of maps we have, there are green and blue orbs that are visible that seem to be pickups of some kind. These could possibly lead to damage or health increases. There are also an occasional floating metallic orb seen in the center of the arena. If it is like Bloodline Champions, these metallic orbs will grant you accelerated access to your ultimate if you pick it up. Arenas Mount Araz (pictured above) is the only announced arena so far. All we know is that when fighting here, "you will also need to handle the overwhelming heat." Looking back at Bloodline Champions, it can only be assumed that this is a reference to the sudden-death environmental effect that will activate if the round lasts for too long. Champions Shifu: The Spear Characterized by fast melee attacks with a light dip into defensive power and mobility, this champion is good for those who would like to play a balanced champion. Croak: The Ranid Assassin Croak boasts supreme mobility, partly in thanks to his stealth ability. He employs a blend of ranged and melee attacks, and is good for those who like to play a hit-and-run kind of character. Freya: Eye of the Storm Freya provides great, consistent damage. She is mobile, and gains the most from her abilities when she jumps into the fray. Good for those who like to rush headlong into battle! Ashka: The Molten Fury Capable of raining relentless damage from afar, Ashka makes use of highly damaging fire magic. He is mobile enough to escape imminent danger. Ashka is great in the hands of an accurate player who knows how to keep his distance. Sirius: The Zenith Offering a blend of damage and support, Sirius is a versatile champion, offering some damage, along with considerable defensive abilities. If you are good at snap judgement and playing flexibly, you might like Sirius. Jade: The Lone Gunner Truly a sniper, Jade is capable of the longest-range combat in the game. She utilizes her stealth to escape from sticky situations, as well as masking her tactical intentions. If you like to utilize patience and discretion, then making a frantic escape, Jade might be for you. Bakko: Hero of Boulder Pass Bringing the utmost defense, Bakko is a supreme absorber and reflector of damage. Bakko supports his teammate by disrupting enemy attacks and chasing down stragglers. Consider playing Bakko if you like causing general mayhem and disruption to your opponents. Lucie: The Expelled Alchemist Providing the most "traditional" support, Lucie offers many defensive boons to her team while also providing some offensive assistance when needed. If you think friendship (and a little poison) can triumph over all, you should give Lucie a try.
