Please Note: This is my first LP and as such the first few parts are a little dry. I believe I'm getting a tiny bit better as I go along so the later episodes are a little more watchable IMHO. Thanks for taking a look at my LP thread! Latest Part Uploaded - Part 11 - Wait, Zombies now? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a-QPI7uEBa4 In anticipation of Uncharted 4 - A Thief's End, I'm doing a Let's Play series for the previous 3 Uncharted games. Or at least, that's what I hope to do if time permits. Starting with - Uncharted : Drake's Fortune Remastered This game was released in 2007 when PS3 was still quite new and this game was a shining showcase of what PS3 was capable of at the time. Now it's available on PS4 as a remastered version in the Uncharted Nathan Drake Collection. Why do an Uncharted LP? Because these are some of the best single player experiences I have ever had. And I want to talk about why that is so. I'll be replaying each game and looking back at them, not that it's been too long since their release. This isn't a retrospective look or anything like that. But it'll be fun to see how the first game holds up and how Uncharted got overhauled in 2 and then, how it stagnated a bit in 3. What will you be doing in this LP? My background is in Animation and screen writing for short films, so I can talk about some of the technical aspects of the game. I'll discuss the game's story structure, the character animations, the Remastered visuals, the characters and the writing which emphasizes character over plot. Also, expect a lot of frustrated exclamations as I curse my way through the first one's combat. Obviously, I'm an ignorant fool so all that talk will be mostly gibberish but it'll be fun to dive into those aspects of the game. Also, I believe Naughty Dog and Pixar are very similar. More about that in the videos. This is my first LP so, I might suck at first but hopefully I'll improve with some feedback and on my own, if possible. If, by any chance, anyone's interested in co-commenting, I'd be very happy to do so. It can result in some great conversations instead of me just rambling on and on rdsarna fucked around with this message at 20:13 on Apr 8, 2016 |

Part 4 - Bridge of Doom https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h-TROD-8Kd0 Continuing the journey, I encountered a long stretch of combat in this half hour and it reminded me how flat the shooting in the first game was. 60fps does help to improve the shooting experience but it feels a bit of a hassle, honestly. Hopefully it will become more fun as new weapons are introduced. And there was some finicky platforming in this part. Maybe it wasn't finicky, maybe I just suck at it real hard but I died a couple of times But the entire playthrough was a lot of fun. Not much insight into the technical aspects as I got lost in the gameplay. But more of that in the next part for sure as I've been doing some research into Uncharted series and Naughty Dog, which is super fun!

I'm back with another Let's Play of Uncharted Drake's Fortune Remastered on PS4 titled, "Where to go?", as I'm completely lost in this video. Don't know which platform to climb or which path to take. But it's all fun and games! I changed the video format a bit and this one is only at 720p but it's running at 60 FPS which the remastered versions run at on PS4. This is because my capture card allows recording 1080p at 30fps. So if I want 60fps I have to drop the resolution to 720p. Also a lot less whining and complaining about the combat in this part as I went back and experienced this game on PS3 for some time. And there's a day and night difference between the frame rates from 30fps to 60fps which makes the shooting so much better in the Remastered version. Moving ahead on the island, there's a ton of combat in this part. But since I've a much better appreciation of the jump to 60fps and the reduced latency in the controller input, I am actually enjoying the combat a whole lot now. Plus seeing enemies fly off as you shotgun them never gets old. I discuss how Uncharted series uses visual clues to guide you in platforming sections. Uncharted 1 had birds while Uncharted 2 & 3 had yellow paint. I also realize that I suck with shotguns so the trophies for those guns are gonna be hard to achieve. Which also makes me realize that I would be the worst guy to do an LP series on the Souls games. Hope you like this part and I'll be back with the next part tomorrow. Meet Eddy Raja, a quirky buy memorable side character / villain who captures our hero and demands stupid stuff. And meet Elena who once again proves her worth in Drake's journey and the story. I really do love the characters in these games. They aren't just one note archetypes, but instead they are well rounded three dimensional people. Plus a pretty long car chase where Elena drives and we shoot and blow enemy vehicles with the mounted guns. Some cartoony touches of Naughty Dog's earlier animation rear their ugly heads in a few places during the cutscenes but it's all still awesome! JET SKI!!!!! The worst aspect of this game because of the lovely controls. I'm so glad they didn't have anything similar in the next two games. Other than that, this is the middle section of the game so not much happening plot wise. It's going to start ramping up from the next part of the series. Really looking forward to the 3rd act of this game which switches the gameplay drastically and I love that. Part 8 - Hate That Jet Ski https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g564fHZUN5U

this level sucks rear end because of 2 things. one is lovely controls. the other is the slowness of the level which is made worse by the lovely controls. when i play a jetski chase level, i expect it to be fast and fun, not plodding where most of the time is spent trying to line up a shot on some dude who can kill me in one hit.

Totally agree with you. I actually couldn't believe that such a sequence existed in Drake's Fortune, the first time that I played it. I had not heard any negatives about the game before playing and this level bit me in the rear end and I spent so long trying to get through it. And forget about this level on the hardest difficulty. I couldn't get the platinum because of this.

Why didn't they make Drake just pick up ammo automatically?

Gargamel Gibson posted:Why didn't they make Drake just pick up ammo automatically? I do not have any idea but that would have been a big time saver. The games might have been shorter by 30-45 minutes :P Judging by the gameplay footage from Uncharted 4, they still haven't added the auto ammo pickup feature. It's going to be manual as it was in the Multiplayer Beta.

Some one important returns from the dead and we're racing head first towards the end of the second act. A lot of action in this episode, as usual. But there's yet another lovely jet ski section that I still hate. Hopefully there won't be any more of those. Plus there's a genuinely heart touching moment on a wooden bridge that really hit me. And the reunion at the end is also heartwarming Part 9 - Look Who's Back https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=24MYjk7D3Q8

This part contains The funniest line in the game. I always laugh out loud at the line. Check it out! Story-wise we are going deeper into the island in search of the treasure vault so there's a lot of dark places, some puzzles, tons of platforming and combat. Thankfully the Jet Ski nightmare is done with. Plus the story is ramping up to the climax. I'm done recording all the parts for the game now and there are 3 more parts left to upload! In this Let's Play, combat takes a complete U-turn as we ditch cover based shooting for head-to-head(?) shooting. It's a nice way to spice up the combat which had become a bit stale as the hordes of enemies kept increasing. This change freshens things up a bit. 2 more parts to go till the end of the game!
