You can use gpgpu to simulate a red panda.

Final Cut Pro does and when used on the Mac Pro with it's dual AMD cards, it's probably the best use case possible for GPGPU and it rocks. you can apply like a tonne of effects to multiple 4K streams in real time.

i did for a bit but if you have a halfway decent sized project nvidia will send cuda engineers out to you to help you get set up and figure out the right architecture for what you want to do and their support is just really good. plus cuda is normally faster

bloodborne is a ps4 exclusive so this scenario isn't very realistic

i guess photoshop does use it to accelerate this poo poo (on my shameful radeon 7870) which is nice:

  • Artboards
  • Camera Raw (see note)
  • 3D
  • Scrubby Zoom
  • Birds Eye View
  • Flick Panning
  • Smooth Brush Resizing
  • Image Size – Preserve Details
  • Select Focus
  • Blur Gallery - Field Blur, Iris Blur, Tilt-Shift, Path Blur, Spin Blur (OpenCL accelerated)
  • Smart Sharpen (Noise Reduction – OpenCL accelerated)
  • Oil Paint (OpenCL accelerated)
  • Render – Flame, Picture Frame, and Tree
  • Perspective Warp

of course i barely use any of this poo poo and it doesn't accelerate useful things like content aware fill or curves so i have to wait while it chugs through doing this to my 15000x20000 file

I'm running a neural network predictive text thing and it's taking 500 seconds per layer to train on my cpu. i'm considering buying a quadro 600 from work for $5 because it'll probably be faster and i could replace my firewire card with it
