I miss the good old days when kids were traumatized by cartoons instead of news and the internet Sure you can complain now, but watching a cartoon car get crushed is far easier to digest than watching someone get their head chopped off on youtube, or going shark fishing with live kitten bait, or whatever

Brave Little Toaster had some scary parts, but I think Secret of Nimh gave me more nightmares. I think the champ though was Little Nemo. The black ooze and the nightmare king were scary, and even the comical Oomphs were more creepy than cute back then. And yeah, cartoons don't have the balls to be scary like that anymore. What movies am I gonna show my kid??

But in a way that I would watch it again and again just to freak myself out. The other bad one was that janky animated Hobbit movie made in the early 80s. For some reason Gollum horrified me, and I refused to ever watch it again.

This was my favorite movie as a kid and I probably watched it like 100 times. I think this movie lead to the rise of hoarding in the US like the lion king lead to the rise in furries

The only time I was ever really horrified from a movie was Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory with Gene Wilder. I can still remember watching it for the first time around the age of seven or so being mesmerized by this movie. It was one of the greatest movies ever, then the boat ride. It hits you like a witnessing a bloody car wreck or murder scene, you can't close your eyes for nights without seeing it.

The forest was creepy. The stuff I vividly remember is strange: Lamp talking weird and tapping his pillow rock with his plug before trying to sleep. The workshop song and new appliances song were my favorites. I think the last unicorns harpy hosed me up more though
