I showed the boob rat photos to my boyfriend and his only commentary was that it would be more impressive if they were capybaras. I definitely don't have the boob size to pull it off though.

BattleMaster

Yeah their main food is grass so they can handle it. They certainly seem perfectly happy to eat anything made of plant matter.

You have no idea how dirty the poor things are, is hard to even get near then, for the smell

That capys can survive and breed on that environment is quite a feature

Yeah, since they spend so much time in the water (and don't mind getting muddy) they're only as clean as the water they have access to. The ones kept as pets or in petting zoos are always given very clean water to swim in but I imagine wild ones, even away from human pollution, can get pretty swampy.

But I think even dirty ones are still cute to look at :3:

Hi I like cephalopods and stuff and would love to own one with the appropriate escape almost proof aquarium setup they are quite capable of handling air exposure for limited times it should be perfectly fine and you shouldn't get too upset

You are thinking of octopuses which will try to escape on purpose and aren't bothered by being outside of the tank for short times. That's a cuttlefish, who never try to escape the tank (and like all decapodiformes are not really capable of escape anyway) and definitely don't enjoy air.

Who could have known that such a broad group of animals with so much variation between species could have members who are different from each other???

edit: from the cuttlefish's colours and the way it's frantically flapping its fins to try to escape it doesn't enjoy what is going on, and the person doing that is either stupid or about to prepare it as food and isn't concerned about its wellbeing anyway

Adorable although I'm kind of sad that those marine biologists are lumping bobtail squids in with cuttlefish. (bobtail squids are decapodiformes like squids and cuttlefish but are actually a separate third group that is neither in spite of the name)

I love it though :kimchi:
