Guy McAfee, the Capone of L.A. After he got forced off the squad, he moved east to Las Vegas and took over and opened several casinos, including the Golden Nugget. He was the one who called Las Vegas Boulevard "the Strip", after the Sunset Strip.

Guy McAfee posted:

"I came to Las Vegas because I'm happily married, have a great sized stake and have decided to operate in a community where my business of gambling is a legal proposition. I'm not saying the Bowron administration made it too hot for me, for that wouldn't be strictly true. I've cut myself a slice of a new kind of life. Get this straight, no one ran me out of Los Angeles. I'm pulling out because I want to and no other reason."

One of his wives was a real film actress, June Brewster. Her career wasn't that much of one. Lasted from 1933 to 1937. They divorced in 1941. So like Bobbin says, the "June" in this game doesn't fit, as McAfee's third wife, Kathleen, wasn't an actress. She was a brothel madam.

DOUBLE INDEMNITY is playing in the Paramount Theater in downtown Austin on Tuesday and Wednesday nights. So I will not be watching the plot synopsis until later this week.

The Casualty posted:

Nice! It's quite enjoyable, with one of the finest examples of a "spider woman" that the noir genre delivers.

The audience had a big universal unintentional laugh when Walter talks about the mansion having cost "30 thousand dollars."

Alfred Hitchcock was also a really funny, witty gentleman.

Really enjoying this LP, though this game looks like an overwrought piece of poo poo made by an egomaniac.

I watched everything. The lectures were great film critique, with historical perspective.
