Tara, silent as she is at most times, is enamored with Jihae's stories; absolutely foreign ideas being explained bringing a twinkle of joy to her dour eyes during the journey. More than once during the group's travels Jihae brings a gurgling laugh to Tara's lips with his animated explanations, a mixture of awe and disbelief over the grand ideas he is conveying overtaking her.

The group's arrival at Haran has the gladiator's heart drop a little as the husk of a village comes into view; she would have been lying to herself if she'd said that she expected find anything less than what was present, but the disappointment is still there.

Tara nods when Ja'eel makes his inquiry and hops down from her cart, walking back past her erdlu, she begins to rummage through her stowed goods. A brief thunk and a sharp clack ring out, and moments later Tara resurfaces with a hunk of petrified wood serving as a shield on one arm and a gnarled hunk of the same material with a myriad of sharpened bones embedded in it serving as a sword in the other.

Armed for whatever might still be lingering in the town, Tara moves to the front of the group, ready to lead them along the outskirts should they wish to survey the town at a distance.

Tara is happy enough to take point on a cursory loop around the outskirts, but she's not likely to actually see anything if a perception check is required :v:. Also she's a clanker so if there's someone hanging around they're goooonna hear her. As a counterpoint she's less likely to immediately die if there is an ambush and she gets pin cushioned :supaburn:.

At a glance over the town, are the animals pictured in the pen there and alive or just more dead things?

Tara comes to an abrupt halt, the hundreds of bone flecks comprising her armor clattering at the sudden halt of momentum. Jabbing her blade into the ground she lifts her hand to her eyes in an imitation of Ja'eel and follows the line of sight of Obsidian to what is being stared at.

Nothing immediately apparent to her, Tara takes her blade out of the ground and holds it at the ready.

Tara's very suddenly uncomfortable with the situation, armed only with a sword and shield with the prospect of aerial combatants entering the situation eventually. Catching the attention of her erdlu, Tara makes a rough gesture and the beast of burden begins to amble into town with it's precious cargo of food and water.

Her supplies at least close enough that she could sprint to them from inside one of the huts to defend it should the aarakocra descend on the village, Tara reluctantly steps inside the hut of Jihae's confidant, standing near to the door where she can keep her cart in sight.

Tara's also very unlikely to just use project thoughts willy nilly and has certainly not revealed the fact that she can do so to anyone present as of yet :v:.

Tara nods as Haffanu suggests those ranged fighters in the group teaming up with a heavily armored teammate, drawing a piece of her chalk out from a belt pouch Tara begins to scratch out shaky letters on the front of her shield I'll cover an archer of course when the fight comes.

Hand cramping uncomfortably at the unpracticed task of writing, she continues with a second note to Jihae The Boy: Description? Deep wounds for identifying bones? The last thing the party needed was to be wandering around picking over corpses at random hoping to find the person they needed if they weren't found in direct possession of the birdfolk.

Tara heaves a sigh as the villagers outline what has been happening, she was certainly no good with a bow or sling, but in a village of this size you never could tell who would surprise you. But the people here seemed broken with fear, they would need the spark to fight back in their guts if they were to survive here for any length of time.

As it were destroying the creatures razing the village came first in progressing with the mission, the first step would be to figure out if this child they were here to find was still alive or if the mission was dead and buried in the silt already. A few severed heads of the beasts that had been attacking thrown up on pikes wouldn't hurt to dissuade further attacks and the sight of the villager's enemies dead would light a fire under them. Eager to find the foul creatures Tara's grip on her blade tightens as she moves to the doorway and glances toward the sky once again.

quote:

Tara is all for attacking the Aarakocra when they're resting as Haffanu suggests, she'll provide cover to whoever the most vulnerable ranged attacker is at that point.

Tara's breathing is noticeably annoyed as the group proceeds away from the village. There are a few quick knowing glances spared for her erdlu and a threatening glare leveled at those villagers who begin to hopefully eye her wagon's contents, hopeful that she would be as generous as Obsidian, but it was not to be so.

Tara wasn't exactly what one could call a quiet traveler, her armor clacking rather loudly as it constantly shifted about her form with the noise only exaggerated as her body tensed in preparation of oncoming combat as the group traipsed onward.

The gladiator doesn't pay the ear-rending noise of her armor any mind however as she becomes tangled up in the thoughts of the aaracokra's inefficiency with their human livestock. Surely letting the villagers starve over a long period of time would only serve to make their meat worse? Perhaps the beasts found the bodies of those who had begun to wither from starvation easier to get into. Conceding the point to her imaginary debate partner Tara nods, it would be much less hassle for the birdfolk to haul the weakened villagers away after all. A meal that comes quietly is always preferred over one that you have to drag off into the distance as it bites and stabs you.

quote:

If we can do a group guided action under Haffanu that's great :v:.

If not presumably Tara is waiting off tucked away behind something a good distance off as we approach the Aaracokra camp and she's not particularly well concealed! :v: Stealth: 2

If Tazoc or Ja'eel manage to roll well on a stealth check we'd be pretty much golden under the group check rules with half the party having succeeded to make up for the rest of us.

Hefting her shield in front of her Tara graciously takes advantage of the distraction that the Gentle Leviathan provides and charges forward lashing out wildly with her ramshackle blade.
