there's some real good small team music videos that have their own animation set for them. this one, Starlight Brigade, just came out and is fantastic, using a mid-80's anime VHS visual style, kinda like Daft Punk's Interstella 5555. the song's pretty good too, with Dan Avidan. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9Q3i5w6-Ug&hd=1 and a rougher-animated one from a couple years ago called Diamond Jack, using an Osamu Tezuka animation style. love music videos that tell a story along with the music throughout like this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mRpiBvwKX6c&hd=1

Felix Colgrave is a really great surrealist animator and he's decided to finally do the patreon thing so he can focus on his animations that he wants to do rather than having to constantly churn out commissioned works just to stay afloat. His patreon campaign video is stylish and genuinely hilarious as well as informative on how he does what he does, the problems with that, and why he is doing this now. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1QYxJ69pY0E&hd=1 If unfamiliar, he's done a few very popular videos, probably the most famous being DOUBLE KING: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=w_MSFkZHNi4&hd=1

Diaclone is the precursor to Transformers, many of the toys from that toyline were converted into Optimus Prime, Megatron, and many other well-known characters. But there's a bunch of others that were never brought over to the TF line, and they're coming back. Diaclone robots were piloted mechs, not sentient robots, and this rad little animation shows that off. Japan sure does know how to advertise its toys. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aeiZXQfLhY8&hd=1

I put together a short expose on a guy named Kazuo Nagano. He was a businessman stabbed by two assassins at his Osaka apartment before a crowd of reporters - none of whom intervened. Turns out the guy had been scamming the elderly out of the pensions for at least a decade. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=errUJbKZ6fQ&t=201s

Dwarf Fortress is easily the most complicated "game" of all time. Every new game you literally generate multiple centuries worth of history for your world before you even get to play, and you can even go in and look at the specific histories of individual characters throughout the world, how they lived and died. Water evaporates, rain falls and collects in pools, dwarves have entire organ systems and mental states that can improve or degrade(usually the latter), the organic storytelling in it is unparalleled. Really, the only problem is...the visuals. It's all in ascii art. Anything significantly more complicated than individual inanimate icons for things would make an already-taxing game probably unplayable except on the most powerful PCs. It's one of the reasons I've never really gotten into it, but I'm probably going to make the leap when the Steam version eventually comes out. It's got a custom tileset built in and a vastly improved UI, one of the OTHER reasons I've held off on playing the game. But in the meantime, there are people who play dwarf fortress, and translate "runs" of it for us plebs. One of those, is Kruggsmash. He puts in dozens of hours of effort into each 30-minute episode of his runs(according to him, about 30-35 hours per 30 minute episode, including actually playing the game to get footage). He draws great little drawings of scenes that happen, characters, events, every artifact that gets crafted, every Mysterious Beast that appears, there's a lot. And it's great! He tells some great stories, cuts out the chaff(most general maintenance of the fortress etc), and, in later runs, does some decent voice acting. But I would highly suggest hopping in as a starting point, as I did, with Fortress Monsterkiller. The rise and fall of it, and the dwarves within, was really great. I actually got attached to a bunch of the characters in it, like Venomblood, who you get to watch grow up throughout the series. I recommend watching at 1.25 speed, but normal speed is fine too. Here's the intro for Monsterkiller, some nice minimalistic pixel animation. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EJWuYo5niRY&hd=1 and the first episode of Monsterkiller: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sm99232lrWw&hd=1&t=354s

PJDiCesare marathoned all the Megaman Classic and X games recently. He really did not want to play Megaman 2. He, and I quote, said, "Maybe I'll be lucky and the cart won't work." PJ has a notorious effect on any electronics he gets near. And this was PJ's childhood Megaman 2 cart. BEHOLD be careful during any screen with text to not be eating or drinking anything or you may choke and die. My favorite is probably the Get Weapon screens after Bubble Man inexplicably being in japanese and then everything else being in "english" for the rest of the game here is a clip of the beginning when he boots up the game for an idea of what you're in for

Not sure, there's not been much news on the steam version really, but Kitfox is plugging away at it. Tarn's focusing on one last major update to add villain characters in that simultaneously do stuff in the world simultaneously to you doing things, building an empire, sending raids your way, etc, then he'll knuckle down on the steam version himself. unrelated, So This Is Basically Sonic The Hedgehog https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZrsYxR2pSRY&hd=1
