Watched Troll play this a fair bit last night. Sorta interested. Someone earlier had asked if it controls similar to Borderlands. I'm curious if it does.

It's very interesting because the Borderlands health/shield system it uses happens to marry pretty well with the moba flavor. Most of the time you harass the enemy more than try outright kill him (supposing you have enemies who aren't stupid), and in that harassment how the health works is pretty important.

Saboteur in particular is tricky, if you huddle near the console you are supposed to defend then snipers which spawn in the corners will wreck the defense object.

Get people spread out and it gets easier, and the rewards from failure aren't too bad.

How are people finding PC groups for this, if they are? Both PVP and PVE are a lot more fun with non complete randoms.

Yeah not a huge fan of the story mission. But they earn you characters so I've tried - three times each ended with a failure because some mission-critical doodad was destroyed. Meh.

Really enjoying the PvP modes though. Good fun.

Oh yeah the defence objectives are just brutal and there's no way to heal whatever you are guarding, they really need a health buff or something.

The last objective on the Saboteur is nasty, yeah. You're not the first I've seen complain about it. A tip is to have someone in the group run Isic, and stay near the objective at all times, obliterating everything with the Siege mode + missiles. Also try to keep the two sentry spots up with Thumper turrets, and the trap spots up with various traps to distract the enemies.

For the Experiment? I dunno, just try to keep all the sentry and trap spots occupied. I don't recall any of the defense areas there being particularly problematic. Of course, the minor enemies getting through can damage the objectives faster than you'd think, so keep an eye on the minimap.

Edit: Also, I just unlocked Galilea, and now I realize why people have been calling her overpowered.

The issue I have with Sabateur is that the enemies sniping the point are tough to find. Half the time I couldn't even tell what was damaging it

Yeah, the final point on Saboteur is quite frankly just badly designed. It's the only point in the game where enemies can snipe the objective from elevated areas. Though I'm pretty sure the devs are aware of the issue, and have said they're going to take a look at it.

They begin again

I went ahead and grabbed this on the PS4. I'm still not totally sure if it'll be my thing but the gameplay videos look so fun so why not take the risk. The most random thing that really drew me in was how enemies flash white when you hit them. No idea why but it looks so satisfying to me.

How far into the single player should I play before jumping online?

Also this is a long shot but is anyone down for playing with me assuming I'm micless?

The flashing IS satisfying, and it's probably because of Nintendo 8-bit era programming in our brains.

If you're talking story, theres no reason to not immediately do that with more people. If you're talking PvP, you can start whenever but know that you'll need to understand the other characters and what they do to be most productive. You'll also suck your first couple of rounds figuring out what the hell you do and how the maps are laid out.

It's really not balanced well for single player, you'll have a much more enjoyable experience with online players.

Unsurprisingly missions which unlock characters get way more play than ones that dont

Montana can tank better than ISIC imo, especially when ISIC is in turret mode.

We did a 5 man Advanced heliophage today.

Highly do not recommend. Ran Reyna, Miko, ISIC, Montana, Oscar Mike. We got all the way to the end, and died. The bosses/mobs are absolute bullet/damage sponges. It gets to the point that the mobs 1 shot you right after you jump into the middle from respawn.

Might be better to solo/duo/trio it.

needa get dat cake up

I would like to not play with pubbies. I played my first 5 Meltdown games ever last night and lost 4 I think. It is like babby's first moba out there and even if I got top 3 overall every game (except for the win actually) we get beaten. I would like to relax and win sometimes; my steam is satcore.

I bought this game for PVP but in what I thought was the main mode, meltdown, there are only 3 maps. Did I buy the wrong game? I ignorantly thought PVE was a minor part of the game.

I was thinking more among the lines of 4 ISICs can melt everything that appears on screen in two seconds, so you only would need minimal tanking.

So maybe I just played a terrible gallilea but using Isics upgrade that makes his charge shield melee damage absolutely tore her to shreds every time she tried to get close. Sure she ran hog wild on the rest of my team but it was nice to be able to scare her away by the end of the match just by showing up.

I'm annoyed with how much of the roster starts out locked in this game. It's not a free to play game, why are they gating content that I paid for?

Also, is it possible to queue for all pvp modes simultaneously? I feel like that would speed up matchmaking time.

Loving Life Partner

I agree with you that it is weird to gate so many characters at launch. Maybe it's to stagger the content? I mean, I'm still finding tactics and hybrid choices with Oscar Mike and Miko that are new even with 10 hours played, I don't even have much interest in the locked chars yet.

I was just annoyed because I wanted to try El dragon and to unlock him I needed to hit level 20 or get 5 wins as an llc character. The only llc you start with is Marquis and I am a terrible sniper. I unlocked him by winning with Marquis and was ultimately disappointed with his performance. His early game is frustrating.

Basically I had to do something I didn't want to do to get something I wanted that turned out to be mediocre.

Was fun times. I think we would have had it if we were better prepared for what was going to happen. We lost control of that center island and from that point forward just slowly drowned.

Because people love love unlocking poo poo.
In any case the double option to unlock them makes it not much of a grind. Just playing the full campaign once (5 hours to do it?) and playing 4 evenings of pvp should be enough to unlock most of them.

This game is really fun and throwing Boldur's exploding axe into the back of a fleeing enemy feels great. However, they really need to change the way matchmaking works, at least on PC. It would take me anywhere between 5-15 minutes to get a match going before I changed my steam download settings to New York instead of Montreal, but surely they can't have made it so the game only matches you with people from your specific area?

Oh man you are awesome, I live in Japan and considered myself lucky if I got matched with two others, let alone four... then I changed my Steam Download setting from Japan to New York and I had full parties for 4 matches straight. Thanks for this! (I think this confirms that they do match restrict you somehow, though, since I use a VPN with a US address to log in but never seemed to get any full parties until I changed the Steam Download setting...)
