I'm almost 40 and had never heard of them until i started reading this forum. It's almost as if the government and corporations don't want us to understand tax code so they can take advantage of us.

That is inexcusably stupid. Once i encountered the concept it took 15 minutes of research to understand it, and 14 minutes of that was verifying that it really was that simple and obvious. I couldn't understand why this isn't common knowledge, but it isn't.

That would be the government run schools, where we were required to take classes that nominally would have explained this, but never did. Add to that the fact that just about everyone who mentioned it said the same thing(that there was a point at which you made less money if you got a big enough raise) and the fact that I was in that lowest tax bracket for 15 of the 20 years before I got my poo poo together and started making more than 10 bux an hour, and you can see where I never heard of it, and never had to deal with it.

Who What Now posted:Did they not explain it, or did you just not pay attention when they did? v0v I got As in those 2 classes, so i assume it was a lack of explanation. That was almost 2 decades ago so there might be a day i spaced out. Wasn't high because i didn't touch drugs while i lived with my parents.
