It's not really, I think it's just that the game gives you a choice for netplay that idiots like me feel more comfortable on the left. That and most people have a dominant KBD side, but I'm godawful so that's not even close to an issue for me. I guess in general tekken has some more specific directional codes since it's not just qcf and DP for motions. The majority of moves correspond to a single direction and a button so remembering to mirror image everything can be a pain. For new players like me anyways. Agoat posted:Why is P2 side on Tekken so weird? Because KBD and Wavedashing require using different parts of your hand/fingers depending on the side you're on. The motion can feel completely alien. I can do clumsy wavedashes from both sides but can only backdash correctly on player 1

I am glad i'm not the only one who gets hosed up by being on P2 in tekken. It got so bad that I would try to get the P1 spot during matches

CRISPYBABY posted:The weirdest part for me is that sometimes my right hand also tries to mirror image it along with my left hand. I can't explain it. Never did that in GG but something about the four buttons trips off my sense of symmetry. Exactly same thing here. Its hosed up. I think it has to do with your character standing with his back to the camera while on p2 side. Normal fighters don't do that.

is 3rd strike on the psn the only version of the game with a training/practice mode? i am awful at this and want to get better

T7 is the only game where i play RPS to try to get p1 side in tourney. Even if I was equally good on p2 (which I'm not), it's often a big advantage to throw your opponent off by making them play p2.

MrJacobs posted:No the Dreamcast and PS2 versions also have it. How does the PS2 version of 3S look? I'm curious because for years the PS2 version of MvC2 was the only version I'd ever seen and so for a long time I thought that game just normally looked like poo poo

As far as ports go, the PS2 version is better than the DC version because it has more accurate parries. Graphics fill a proper monitor better as well. Of course it's not going to be 100% accurate to the arcade but the PS2 port is pretty good. I haven't seen a 3rd Strike arcade around for years so I don't have much of a frame of reference other than decade+ old memories though.
