Soul Calibur 6 has become a lot more fun to play since they toned down the weird Reversal Edge/Rock Paper Scissors feature. Reversal Edge doesn't happen so often now, and when it does, it doesn't last very long.

I've been goofing around with new video editing software and made some DOA6 basic combo guides. For some reason the Eliot one is the least popular. Imagine that!!!!!

it really wasnt either of those things, they just wanted to tone down the amount of boobjiggle nd not go quite as crazy on the amount of dlc being sold, and they did both. people interpreting it as some stalwart vow against ever being horny were psyopped by a dumb internet culture war

I'm not sure what Team Ninja's actual marketing plan was, but it seemed to make every party involved extremely angry.

Not me though, I love DOA.

Tamaki is pretty cool. She reminds me of Aoi from Virtua Fighter.

They could be prepping an ultimate edition but I really don't think that'll happen.

The last update before this one (which they're walking back with this patch) was essentially a $1 fee to change hair colour - like, not even buy new ones, merely to change to any of the available colours including ones you'd used before. They've hit a point where even the whales have had enough.

It's kind of weird since they just released a new character.

They did make a lot of marketing mistakes, and that hair color update pissed a lot of people off, but the game is fun. Oh well, we'll see what happens.

Releasing a sequel with fewer characters and features was probably a bad move. That and trying to pivot to "esports".

What do people mean when they say DOA hosed up by "pivoting to eSports" because as far as I can tell that was just token pre-release rhetoric meant to persuade people the game wasn't going to be another horny costume shop, and they dropped all pretense the moment the game was out and reviewed and they didn't actually pivot anywhere.

That's pretty much what I meant. Before it was released Team Ninja said they were making a more "eSports" friendly game, but that doesn't really mean anything so it just ended up being confusing.

Then the gamed ended up getting blacklisted from Evo anyway!

As long as a game can connect to an online store, there is going to be paid DLC. That's never going away.

I don't know, fighting games were originally created to fleece dim-witted teenagers out of their hard earned quarters so it might be an uphill battle to change that. But, I will get things started by sending a strongly worded tweet to Koei Tecmo.

I don't think a woman's competition is a bad idea, but you wouldn't need it if there weren't so many complete assholes who play fighting games professionally.

These competitions are essentially for advertising the game, but they just end up putting a bunch of maladjusted weirdos on display.

I competed in a Quarterly Rapport DOA6 online tournament for charity a few weeks ago. Got a few wins... in the losers bracket.

Watching big fighting game tournaments has never interested me much, but it's extremely disappointing that so many of these high level players and organizers ended up being mall arcade dirtbags.
