I never played Yatagarasu, but didn't they stick their parry on a button so it required more commitment than tapping forward? Presumably nobody plays it for a reason so maybe that didn't fix anything or it was just bad for other reasons.

Akatsuki even has this parry as his Force Function in UNIST!!!!!!!!!!!!

Squeenix could do it! They've already collaborated with Disney (Kingdom Hearts), who owns Marvel of course, and they've made some of my all-time favorite fighting games like Tobal No.1 (developed by DreamFactory) and Bushido Blade (developed by Lightweight).

Imagine if they used the FFXV engine and their top-notch artists, to make an MCU party fighting game like Power Stone (call it Infinity Stone, duh)

I get a feeling they're a little busy pushing Dissidia

Never said it was unpolished. And maybe different sections or tastes of the same demographic is a better phrasing. To be honest, I don't know the genre and the scene well enough, but there was a lot of respect for Slap City. There was a real desire to coexist and present a different type of experience.

Again, just my read of the situation, nothing like this was explicitly stated or declared.

Like how many people out there actually want to learn how to play fighting games but also don't want to read about how to do so. If you're not motivated enough to do that research in the first place no amount of "meet you halfway" design concessions are actually going to make converts of the platonic casual.

it exists so fighting game people can be condescending to their non-fighting game friends
