They could announce a date for a Direct, or announce the NX's actual name, without actually unveiling it.

It's more likely some Tuesday in the winter we'll wake up to a tweet from Nintendo saying "Tune in on Thursday at 5PM EDT for the unveiling of the NX" with no prior warning.

um...what is even the concept of this one? "Our next console is partially transparent...and hollow because we jammed all the actual computing parts of our device into the non-transparent parts, thus making our console larger than it had to be?"

Nierbo posted:Wait, what happened to those steam boxes or nvidia boxes or whatever they were? They still coming out? You can see why this was such a dumb idea just scrolling down the list here. http://store.steampowered.com/sale/steam_machines Are you looking for a $500 entry level machine? A $4000 fuckoff rig? All here on the list, next to each other, with very little to help inform the customer about why each one is different. Also, the Steam machines here only take Steam games which use Steam OS, which is relatively few of them and defeats the entire purpose. If you want a cheap-ish gaming PC in a console-like box that gives current-gen console-like power, the Alienware Alpha R2 is a somewhat better option because it actually runs Windows, but... http://www.dell.com/us/p/alienware-alpha-r2-desktop/pd (The R2 is the second one over) It's $599 compared to the XBone and PS4 both being in the $300 range now. It's even more expensive if you pick one of the further over variants. It'd run almost all games on Steam acceptably well (though certainly not maxed out or above 1080p) and it's probably the most bang for your buck you're going to get for a prebuilt console-sized PC that plugs into your TV and gives you a console-like experience.

Real hurthling! posted:idk who would be disappointed besides dudes who can't live having the technically weaker system. PS4 is 1.5x XB1 (1.28tflops vs 1.84 tflops). 900p displays 1.44 million pixels. 1080p displays 2.07 million pixels, or...about 50% more. These numbers match almost exactly.

Stux posted:no one cares Of course, I'm just saying the 2/3rds power difference is in line with the 900p vs 1080p difference because 900p is 2/3rds of 1080p.
