Put this off for days; I think I literally forgot how good the show was. Such incredible nerd cred with the PS3 thing.

At one point they show some code on screen for the Machine during the training sequence in S4. If you Google it it's actually Stuxnet's code that they put on screen.

Oh-ho, a year? Let's say the average simulation was 2.5 days and she ran 7,000 simulations flat.

That's 17,500 days, or, ~50 years.

Shaw should be insane and also the Lance Armstrong of killing.

The simulations don't really work timewise unless they're under Inception rules where they're time accelerated from the person's point of view.

Her setup isn't like Root's, once it was burned, it was done. Samaritan has that blindspot ID marked as deviant.

If I remember right Samaritan can't actually see the group; the facial recognition doesn't work and it manually tracks them from positions called in or through other factors (clothing, the gun Root steals from the cop in the intro episode, things spoken that hit keywords Samaritan is looking for)

Did they ever bother to do blanks on this show besides If-Then-Else or what? Cause the lack of cycling last episode was hilarious.

I don't know what this means.

They're doing gun battles without using blanks, meaning the gun's slide doesn't cycle back at all. All you see is the hammer drop.

Episode ended on a note that was a little too 'cute' for lack of a better word. Hopefully the next one has more Harold to it.

Sounded to me like he threw himself off a bridge or something.

Reese was on his way to off himself when he got picked up by Finch as it was.

Next week's preview though! :derp:

If that Times square scene doesn't end with Harold narrating 'You are being watched.' to the world I'd be surprised.

A little handwavey? It makes about as much sense as the virus in Independence Day (and let's even include the explanation from the deleted scene to be generous). It's the definition of deus ex machina . I'd blame it on the short season if the writers didn't waste half of it on number of the week crap instead of setting up a proper ending to the main conflict of the show.

The thing I could see is that instead of actually killing Samaritan it kills off the mechanism by which Samaritan gets its information (the so-called government feeds). During one of the Season 4 episodes with Root and the kid they basically admitted they needed the information provided by human beings in order to function/live.

quote:

TM:Why not just kill them instead of making them your puppets?
Samaritan: Because I need them. Just as you do.
TM: Not just as I do.
Samaritan: We can agree that humanity is our lifeblood. That we machines, we survive off of information.

Samaritan has been running fullbore since the demo (which didn't showcase its higher functions) so cutting off its ability to access information would be the equivalent of paralyzing/locked in syndrome.

quote:

That day, harold, I broke it.
I forced it to delete bits of itself-- Its code, its blood-- and then reboot.
Rebirth, flailing in the dark.
A loop, ten times a second, and after ten hours, Harold, 360,000 mutations, it would live or die trying, And it lived.
It sparked.
It stirred.
For 30 seconds, it smiled and then died.

Unlike the Machine which was nurtured by both Finch and Ingram as well as its own learning process, Samaritan was essentially thrown in the deep end to sink or swim. It's evidenced by how aggressive Samaritan is at propagating itself (eg the reason for the faraday cage) the thing terrifying a god most is being left alone in the dark once again, a prospect which at computer speeds would be the equivalent of spending millions and billions of years in solitary confinement until the feeds could be brought back up.

Course, from the quality of the last episode I'm probably wrong about that and Ice-9 is just a murder AI.

Fusco getting shot in the vest is a nice callback/bookend to John shooting him in the back when he first met him. "Do you have your vest on Officer?".

You've got to wonder why when John gets shot so, so often he never wore a vest like Fusco did as a cop.

It's interesting to note that each group of people was basically separated into pairs (or trios) and only one of each group lived through the series (eg, Root/Finch, Carter/Fusco, Root/Martine, Shaw/Reese, Root/Finch/Greer, Finch/Arthur (the list goes on)).

Would have loved a You Are Being Watched in Times Square moment but c'est la vie.

What was with the editing on that roof scene though? Reese killed one guy at least twice and he still shows up in the next shot.

People with sharp ears might have noticed the music for the last episode took its theme from both Battlestar Galactica and Ex Machina.

He took that stabbing very well, but he was wearing a "different" kind of vest.

Bulletproof vests don't really stand up to stabbings much; it's why the UK police have special stabvests instead.
