HOW CAN I FOLLOW THIS? The cable networks should be covering it. Watch CNN or Fox News here: http://www.stream2watch.co/live-now/live-tv/us/ Watch MSNBC here: http://www.livenewschat.eu/politics/ Results can be found in these places before they appear on cable http://www.nytimes.com/elections/results (reliable) http://www.decisiondeskhq.com/ (cheats by reporting results before they're official, tends to get slower toward the end) You can also live chat about it in our IRC channel: https://client00.chat.mibbit.com/?server=EU.synirc.net%3A%2B7001&channel=%23Poligoon NARRATIVE All the states voting are near New York, geographically and culturally, where Trump won a blowout last week. Also like last week, what's important here are the margins, because Trump needs every delegate he can to win on the first convention ballot, even Pennsylvania's unbound ones. In the last week Trump has said he's fine with transgender people using any bathrooms they want, which prompted Cruz to concoct fantasies involving grown men and little girls and declare himself the bathroom czar. Then Cruz and Kasich essentially announced they were coordinating to deny Trump delegates. Neither thing seems to be playing very well with Republicans unless they're hardcore values voters or #NeverTrumps, and the most recent polling indicates this could be a bloodbath like we've never seen. SCHEDULE Connecticut polls open at 6am ET Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island polls open at 7am ET All polls in every state close simultaneously at 8pm ET CONTEST TECHNICAL INFO Connecticut: closed primary for 28 delegates. Has different systems for the at-large and district delegates. The district delegates are winner-take-all per district, but the at-large delegates are winner-take-most with 50% trigger. Delaware: closed primary for 16 delegates. Pure sweet statewide WINNER-TAKE-ALL. Maryland: closed primary for 38 delegates. Winner-take-all per district and for the at-large delegates. So Trump needs to win each individual district as well as the state, same system that Wisconsin had and Indiana will have. Pennsylvania's: closed primary for 71 delegates. 17 at-large delegates are winner-take-all, but each of its districts has a loophole primary, meaning all those delegates will be unbound and it combines delegate "allocation" with selection. But unlike other delegate selection processes, a loophole primary will actually be good for Trump because the whole state party can vote. Rhode Island: semi-closed primary for 19 delegates. It is GOD damned proportional. In a nutshell, the only state where Trump needs to get above 50% is Connecticut, but he needs to win broadly in Maryland, and do as well as possible in Rhode Island and Pennsylvania. It's also an open question how many states Cruz will actually hit viability in. The NE hates Ted Cruz. A lot.

Rhode Island's primary isn't really closed. It's "semi-closed" or "hybrid" and the key takeaway is than Independents can vote in either primary there.

I'll be interested in seeing whether the party at-large has accepted Trump's narrative that the race is rigged, especially on the tail of the Cruz-Kasich alliance. Though Trump usually under-performs his polls, the recent news cycle makes it seem as though there's a lot of room for him to over-perform today. If Trump can snatch up more than 100 delegates, then tonight will be very good for his campaign. It will also do a really nice job of setting the stage for Indiana, which might drift towards his orbit if Trump seems inevitable. I'll also be interested in seeing if Cruz misses a delegate threshold. That much of a setback would really be demoralizing for his campaign.
