Any suggestions on what stats to focus on? Or what to spend samurai points on? I can't tell if me putting all of my points in high axe stance will gently caress me over but god is it fun to smash dudes with a large axe.

Beat the normal Ogress first try, took all my elixirs but I did it. The good ol' standard Katana is great to use and has a nice feel. How are the other weapons?
