I feel like the movie pulls its punches a bit here. For a movie about a punk band, it sure didn't want to show much punk music, including switching to something more atmospheric during the dance montage. Don't know if I'd call it a "punk film" so much as a film that happens to include a punk band as being the sort of band most likely to end up playing for a bunch of neo-nazis.

This movie having no full punk songs except for Nazi Punks gently caress Off is the punkest thing about this movie.

Being played to a crowd of nazi punks no less.

who end up loving their set in the end.

loving hard man. Dug this movie. like a box cutter to the guts.

Doesn't matter, dude who's heading to get the cops is going to roll on everyone considering he pretty much knows what's up and seemed genuinely exhausted at all the murder at the end there.

The best line that really highlights the dryness of the violence is Patrick Stewart telling the dude he should've just let werm face justice and go to jail instead of all this but now that they're in it...

Also, like chitoryu12 said, it's Cow CATCHER, not Cow Crusher.

I was into Roadies up until Imogen's self-indulgent "I exist only to tear down your ideals!" film school naïveté, but the whole point is that she is that stereotype, right down to falling into her own "running back to what she loves" cliche.

It was fun, but that was a bit too on the nose.

Preacher just finished up on AMC and I feel they really dropped the ball with Arseface/Eugene not being a grunge/punk kid. Not enough punks in media. Imogen Poots currently in Roadies non-withstanding.

Also, anyone ever see Dudes? I hate Ducky, so it already rubs me the wrong way, but the trailer looks goofy enough.

One of the guys who came to the crane training school I work at had 1/3 of his neck taken up by a Confederate flag tattoo and he had at least 5 swastikas visible along his arms. I Googled him afterward and found that he was part of American Front, a major (and very scary) white supremacist organization. An undercover police officer had infiltrated them and found that they had a compound in St. Cloud, Florida where they got a fellow white supremacist in the National Guard to train them in weapons handling and military tactics, illegally acquired guns, and plotted to use hidden weapons to attack an anti-racist skinhead protest as part of the opening battles in a race war. The undercover officer overheard plans (some of which were followed up on) to seek out and hospitalize other white supremacists who dissed them, or forcibly confiscate the patches of members who didn't pay their dues.

The account by the officer in the affidavit gets pretty drat scary toward the end. The leader calls a meeting at the compound and announces that they have reason to suspect that they've got a mole, and immediately demands that everyone hand over their phones and SIM cards to be examined and smashed. They started noticing that the actual mole was looking nervous, and begin making veiled threats toward him and lots of nasty glares when they talk about cops. He realized that he was close to being blown and called in the cops, but last I heard they lacked enough solid evidence to lock the group away for good. Certainly not enough to keep a guy from showing up and certifying with us.

Crazy Neo-Nazis with guns are still very much around and planning.

Pretty hyped for this movie actually.

The DC area has a very active hardcore scene and a constantly shifting rotation of short-lived basement clubs

but yeah I've seen what west coast punk looks like these days and nazis would be an improvement

The stuff coming out of the east LA punk scene is pretty raw and exciting considering it's a bunch of first generation Hispanic kids embracing and expanding upon the ideals of the scene. It reminds me of how in Chicago, the hispanic and black kids of the 80s gravitated toward disco clubs which gave rise to the house music genre. And who knew genre fusion would actually be good when given to people who aren't white dude bros?

I went to a screening for a documentary about the Melvins and during the Q&A after the movie, Buzz talked about being tricked into playing nazi gigs in the 80s and how crazy that poo poo was. Hope the doc is widely available soon as it was really good.
