HEY IF THIS THREAD SEEMS DEAD IT'S CAUSE WE'RE ALL IN THE DISCORD! JOIN THE DISCORD! WE HAVE A PRETTY ACTIVE COMMUNITY!

What is Dungeon Fighter Online?

DFO is an online beat 'em up inspired most directly by Capcom's D&D arcade games. Take Shadows Over Mystara, add some more fighting game mechanics, slather some polish over the controls, multiply the content twenty-fold, add a ridiculous amount (nearly sixty) of completely unique classes, and spice with a small amount of Korean grind to taste, and you get DFO.

Is it pay to win?

Not really. There is a cash shop, but in general Neople is very, very generous in giving out the cash shop items for free, and even if you're not patient enough for that, most of the stuff is pretty cheap. Regardless, the stuff you can buy in the cash shop doesn’t have a large impact on your power; no endgame equipment to be found there, mostly just convenience and most importantly :siren:fashion:siren:. You can also buy many of the cash shop items from other players for extremely reasonable amounts of gold.

(credit to Raruna)_ (credit to ebbilin/pennilane)

Where can I get it?

Right here! http://www.dfoneople.com/ or on Steam! Be aware that once you make an account using Steam or the standalone launcher, you CANNOT log in through the other on that account.

Hey I played this game back in 2012 and-

Everything is different now. New (and much faster!) leveling system, level 95 cap with second awakenings, new storyline, all new dungeons, all new loot, and a real endgame has emerged. And all of that under the vastly better management of Neople; better avatar system, free skill respec, and gearing reworks that replace almost all the RNG with daily progress.

Is there a Goon guild?

thanks vx
The goon guild is Restraint. Black Balloon is the leader, and we have a number of officers, including myself. You can join by opening the guild menu (semicolon key) and entering the guild name to send a request. :siren:Put your SA name in your guild app so we know you aren't some rando:siren:. Our discord channel is here.

Holy poo poo what class do I play?

There's a big class advertisement post here!

Also, check out some of our class demos!
-Male Slayer Berserker---Asura---Soul Bender
-Female Slayer Dark Templar---Vagabond---Demon Slayer---Sword Master
-Female Fighter Female Striker---Female Brawler---Female Nen Master---Female Grappler
-Male Fighter Male Nen Master---Male Brawler---Male Striker
-Male Gunner Male Mechanic---Male Ranger---Male Spitfire

-Thief Rogue---Necromancer---Kunoichi---Shadow Dancer
-Knight Elven Knight---Chaos---Guardian Angel---Dragon Knight
-Lancer Vanguard---Impaler
-Agent Secret Agent---Troubleshooter---Hitman
-Creator
-Dark Knight

It’s really easy to try out a bunch of different classes with minimal time or effort, and you can switch between your sub-classes until you hit level 50, so don’t worry about wasting time on a class you don’t like.

Feel free to ask more about classes in the Discord!

What are the class roles?

---Dealer: Most classes do appreciable damage, and so the 'damage' role usually mean your most geared person, or person who isn't in a class that performs some other role.

---Sub-Dealer: A secondary damage dealer, usually one that also provides partial support. They include Asura/Soul Bender/Weapon Master (Male Slayer), Dark Templar (Female Slayer), Nen Master/Grappler/Brawler (Female Fighter), Brawler/Grappler (Male Fighter), Witch/Summoner (Female Mage), Swift Master/Blood Mage (Male Mage), Exorcist (Male Priest), Inquisitor/Shaman (Female Priest), Shadow Dancer (Thief), Hitman/Troubleshooter/Specialist (Agent), Lightbringer (Knight), and Creator

---Hold: A class that specializes in shutting down enemy attacks and especially movement. Most classes have some holding ability, so a dedicated holder isn't always necessary, but they're always helpful. The major dedicated ones include Asura/Weapon Master (Male Slayer), Dark Templar (Female Slayer), Grappler (Female Fighter), Witch (Female Mage), Glacial Master/Blood Mage (Male Mage), Exorcist (Male Priest), Inquisitor (Female Priest), Troubleshooter/Specialist (Agent), Dark Knight, and Creator.

---Pure Support: A class that, in party setting, can forgo their damage in order to vastly empower the rest of the team. This role is made up purely of Crusader (Male/Female Priest).

Are there any trap classes?

Not anymore! Hurray! Play what feels fun, mostly. (Dark Knight is unbelievably boring do not play it)

I would like a fast track to endgame. Which class do I pick?

Check out any of the Sub-dealer, and especially Hold and Pure Support classes, above.

Can I use a gamepad with DFO?

Yes! The game supports gamepad control binding natively, but only in direct input- that means no analog triggers or pressure sensitive buttons. You can also use XPadder if you want more thorough support. Note that any gamepad mapping software must be run in administrator mode to function in DFO. Note also that if you use the native gamepad function, you must set your hotkeys back to keyboard inputs in order to use the custom command function, and they back to gamepad inputs after words.

What's with disassembling? Cubes? Materials?

Disassembling items produced cubes, both clear and colored. Generally, most people will recommend that you vendor common (white named) items, while disassembling uncommons (blues). Some skills consume clear cube fragments on use, but this is effectively a non-cost and you shouldn’t ever need to worry about it. Generally, it's worthwhile to pick up any blue materials that drop. Don’t be afraid to ask for materials if you don’t have enough; most goons have large stockpiles.

I need materials for a quest!

Check the guild chest (right from Seria's room), and if you can't find them there, ask the guild. Someone will generally donate them. More established players: please donate to the guild chest.

I need healing items that don't suck!

You can buy percentile healing items with carnelian from Toby in Elvenguard or Karakas in the Moonlight Tavern, or with gold from Granny in Harlem.

Reinforcement? Refinement? Amplification?

Don’t worry too much about any of these until the late game; it’s a waste of money and resources to mess with them on equipment you’re going to rapidly outgrow. Basically, reinforcement adds attack power to skills with percentile aspects to their damage, refinement adds attack power to skills with non-percentile (fixed) aspects to their damage, and amplification is a special process that can only be used on item that are ‘tainted with otherverse energy’ and is basically an extremely expensive way of gaining marginal extra power in the deep endgame. :siren:Do not amp your weapon for gently caress sake:siren:

I’m level 95, what do I do now?

Ask in the Discord for class specific things, but generally start running Assault Mode for legendaries, Dawning Crevice to upgrade those legendaries to epics, and Tower of Dazzlement for an epic weapon. When you've done that, start running Tayberrs for the current endgame gear. Ask for help if you need it, especially with Dawning Crevice.

For Harlem epics, typically unless you're a cloth based class you can just get the armor set that corresponds to your armor mastery. If you're willing to spend a fair amount of gold you can minmax this if you care, but it doesn't matter much. If you are cloth based, ask in the discord just to make sure; the set is largely fine but is weak on certain classes.

If you need seeds of birth, you can trade terrarium for a large amount of seeds at Red Tail Jonathan. Alternatively, you can run Sleepy Hollow for aboth seeds and junk, which lets you buy a filler legendary weapon until you get something better.

If you need money, the most time-efficient way to get it is to run Dimension Rift in Saint Horn and use an Animator or Alchemy grinder to turn the drops into gold cubes. It less than five minutes daily and can bring in nearly half a million per character.

Hell Modes are basically just rng-based gearing shortcuts. Normal hells only require demon invitations and can drop any of the epics you can get through Aberrant Crystalline/Dawning Crevice. Sky Rift hells require demon invitations and rift sensor stones to run and can drop Tayberrs epics. As a general rule, run Sky Rifts if you have the sensor stones, otherwise run normal hells until you have full Dawning Crevice epics.

More detailed information can be found here.

What’s this 'Raid’ nonsense?

Endgame stuff. Anton Raid is super easy for most players anymore, and anyone who's done even a modest amount of work can easily do it. Most people don't even bother anymore. Luke Raid requires a bit more effort but you should be able to find a team by the time you've gotten a few epics. Tayberrs requires endgame gear to run and is where most high level players are hanging out now.

A couple floors were annoying for my Asura but he's nearing his 3rd clear of it. Vagabond feels more like they ran out of ideas on what to do with her because the other F. Slayer classes all got some nice burst skills with 2nd awakening while Vagabond is twirling around like an idiot.

Turn Vagabond in to F.Asura and make her stuff percent-heavy instead of fixed.

Struggling a bit with writing the sword master effortpost, 'cuz I'm not sure how in-depth I want to go with it. It'll probably be less about selling people on the class, and more about really dissecting everything about the class.

Picked up this game a couple days ago and it seems fun, though the UI gives me information paralysis sometimes. What's the easiest way to start doing multiplayer dungeons, and how much are people going to yell at me if I have no idea what I'm doing and just spam skills out?

Honestly, people don't do partying much due to scenario dungeons. Around Oceanic Express, somewhere in the level 68 range (one level away from the next area), some people will party up due to running out of quests and being some percentage away from the next area.

Aside from that, people party chiefly at the Otherverse dungeons, Ancients/Requiems, or Anton, which are all endgame-y.

Good loving god, time to come back then. I always wanted to level, say, F. Nen but getting through to the 40s was hot loving garbage compared to (say) Grappler. Plenty of other examples I can't think of now too (Crusader). Are there any restrictions at all on changing subclass?

And now I'm hearing they released another Thief subclass?! Oh man oh man!

(edit) Incidentally is Necromancer still the like one of three subs that weren't "the best class in the game" according to that one post in the old thread, or have they been improved in some way?

a) Yes. You can't change subclass at level 50 and above, and only the first time is free.

b) Two. Kunoichi, a fire damage based cloth wearing caster with a really fun gimmick, and Shadow Dancer, a physical class that's all about doing it from behind, brutally.

c) Necromancers have gotten hella improved. They're a really strong class that relies on hella gear swapping at endgame to get the most out of stuff.

Aw, only once? Oh well, at least that lets you go in with a plan.

I tried Kunoichi briefly before and I got strangely bored pretty quick to be honest. Not sure why. Never saw Shadow Dancer though, might have to pull up a video or two.

And boo hiss on gear swapping. I hope if I ever settle on a class it's not one that relies on that for anything.

Miles is based on completing dungeons. 1 point per dungeon completed but it only starts counting once you reach level 17 and in the Meltdown area I believe.

You also earn them from buying stuff with Cera.

You can only earn 30 milage a day from dungeons. You get 1 per dungeon completion of level appropriate dungeon.

Leveling my lowbie fbrawler and while it lacks the room-wiping flair of some classes it's fun running up to a boss, smashing them in the face with a brick, and then beating them to death with a ground 'n pound.

Thanks to the recent events I also have probably a month worth of Master Contract time and I think I can jump up to about 75 days of neo prem plus if I buy the remaining 8 7-day contracts from the event. What're the stats on the summer outfit/title/pet? Need to decide if I should get them or not (and for what character if so).

e: Any suggestions on an element to focus for Chaos? I noticed they get a buff that lets them select an element for their minions so I'm wondering if it's yet another Stack All The Light class?
