Did the writers have a running season-long bet as to how many times they could put "Labia Majora" into a sketch?

Welll the last sketch is always hit or miss. Overall a good ep though, the dead poet's society had me laughing for like 5 minutes.

They kind of wasted all the guest talent they had hanging around there. Why was Samberg even there? His product placement for his movie (that I hope is good) could very well have been filmed for the movie on their lot or whatever. The Cider House Rules sketch was amazing, though. They didn't even telegraph it by drawing your attention to the cieling fan or anything.

As soon as I saw the fan in the background, I had an inkling that it was going to go that way. I don't know why, I just did. Probably from seeing Dead Poets Society too many times, and knew what was coming up next.

Also I saw Pete Davidson do standup about a month back in Philly and was pretty disappointed. First, he had an opener that just murdered the crowd. Then, he seemed extremely unprepared or maybe just too high. Long pauses between bits, which weren't hitting that hard, seemed hazy on some jokes. At one point he excused himself to yell at his friends backstage to "Shut the gently caress up", came back to that stage saying "sorry I couldn't hear myself up here", and completely moved on from the punchline of a bit from he was setting up for the last 10 minutes. Wonder if it was just a bad night or if he's not handling fame well.

Eh, with SNL it's either "You know exactly how this is going to end, let's see how Keenan Thompson reacts" or "Completely random, unfunny ending" and rarely the "Oh hey this is an original, funny idea" immediately followed by "Far less funny version of the original idea that they tried to do again" (See Alien abduction/near death experience).

This was edited into last night's repeat of the Drake episode, right after the "Drake's Beefs" filmed piece. Matt Villines was one half of the directing team Matt & Oz (Rodriguez.) After the departure of The Lonely Island in 2012, Matt & Oz took over as the SNL's resident filmmakers, creating the bulk of the show's filmed pieces for the past four seasons. He died last Saturday, July 9, of stage 4 kidney cancer. Observer's list of their best work on the show. You can view some of their SNL films, sans studio audience reaction, on their Vimeo page.

That's super weird. Killam is the closest thing to a breakout male star they have. Although, I guess being around for 6 years and not really going past the SNL bubble may not count as "Breakout".

More importantly, Killam was a solid all-around performer who was always good in sketches. I know SNL is always looking for the next big thing, but sometimes you just need people who are good at being on SNL.
