HL mods were all just (poor) recreations of existing Quake I/II mods and I will fight you OP.

Anyone remember which mod had the single player mode that basically recreates HL1, but you play as Barney and you get to recruit gordon as a follower in one of the levels? I know it's not blueshift because they gave gordon a weird voice so it's obviously fan made. Probably got mentioned already but I'm curious which one it is. Quantum of Phallus posted:Black Mesa came out I'm actually playing through that right now. The smooth hover flight animation of the marine troops is really off putting, but it's pretty solid mod.

I got a "legit" version of Half-Life by downloading an ISO or whatever somewhere, then getting the CD key off of a picture from an eBay auction that had the CD key plainly visible in the picture.

Science & Industry was extremely good but it died out really quickly. The wizards mod was terrible fun and had horrible everything, especially the Geomancers Sven Co-Op was amazing and full of griefers, plus it had a bunch of weird psychadelic horror zone/map places The Specialists was great FLF was great until suppressing fire Ricochet was cool for approx. 2 matches, but it became a sanctioned mod and was lame anyway Natural Selection, great Box Wars was incredibly fun at LAN parties Whatever that one Snark mod was with shitloads of Snark themed weapons, homing snarks, snark rifles, everything The ability to choose whatever character I wanted just like Quake, and useful color sliders. I always played the most obnoxiously bright yellow/green or bright pink/purple barney and name FLUORESCENT EXTRAVAGANZA which would make people mad since it scrolled their names off the killfeed I always forget DoD/TFC/CS were all mods, but all ruled. I have fond memories of Beta 4.0 in CS when the P90 was introduced along with that one incredibly unbalanced map where the CTs had to wait for a gigantic, extremely slow garage door to open up before they could leave their little spawn office, and Ts would just camp outside. DoD when they introduced Brits. Putting a small piece of tape in the middle of my screen for both Kar98k snipes in DoD and AWPing in CS.

It was the only time I ever played esports too, in cal which was interesting but I learned never to do it again and it gave me terminal aids shame NS2 kind of sucked and bombed but it wasn't unexpected considering how loving retarded Flayra was and awful decisions they did during development. I actually was more surprised how much of a flaming trainwreck it didn't end up being and instead was just a boring mediocre trainwreck

I loving loved Science and Industry Also a big fan of The Opera, even if it never *quite* lived up to its potential it was rad as heck to do wall flips and headshot people with your pistols while diving through the air PVK was also good fun, though I think Chivalry is closer to a spiritual sequel than either of the two mods listed above CS was great, but peaked for me well before 1.0- I missed the hilarious shoddiness of the early betas (gunkicking! nightvision that was just a green filter that made it harder to see in the dark!) and the maps ripped directly from Goldeneye I also loved playing as the super OP Allied Infantry in early DOD- run at a million miles an hour, gently caress bitches with the Garand, spam your historically accurate grenade loadout (i.e. way too many) all over the place MLIOOBE posted:The wizards mod was terrible fun and had horrible everything, especially the Geomancers LGD fucked around with this message at 03:12 on May 12, 2016 |
