It hit every note that TMNT did for me when I was 8, except Power Rangers was live action kung-fu and not animated In retrospect its goofy as hell, but they really put effort into the choreography and SFX for the time. I eventually checked out of the franchise once the writing started going south. You'd think it be hard to mess up a monster of the week formula, but in reality they would run out of Japanese footage or the actors would demand raises so they'd have to keep doing mini-arcs to constantly justify dropping Rangers and mechs. boom boom boom posted:Fun fact, the people who make Japanese Power Rangers found out that if the mom watches the shows with their kids they're more likely to buy merchandise for their kids. Serious post in a GBS thread about Power Rangers: Set photos often do not reflect the final product that ends up on screen, as the materials they use for the suits are designed to look good specifically on whatever type of film they're shooting on, under the specific lighting they're shooting under, and in these modern times, often have not only color grading to go through but a pass on CGI. So while yes, the suit looks like garbage in these photos, it will probably look better in the film. Or it won't and it'll be like that last Terminator movie.

Like Rita's current look seems fine by toku standards, but if you're gonna change it that much then reusing all the character names just seems like it's banking off the nostalgia of 30 years olds. On the other hand, if it's successful enough to warrant a trilogy this allows them to go through the arcs the show did while it was still using the ZyuRanger outfits. So the second movie can do the Green Ranger story and add in the Thunder Zords, then the third film can use the Ninja Zords and upgrade Green to White Ranger.
