I'm in the process of replacing my bedding and I need new sheets. I live in Houston, so 8-9 months out of the year are warm. I'm not a fan of the sheets I have - both are cotton, high thread count, but they have a few issues: Both shrunk noticeably after just the first few washes and I have to put the fitted sheet back on I sleep warm - with these, I either don't use a blanket and wind up cold, or I use a blanket and wind up drenched in sweat. They just don't seem to last very long - just a couple years. For alternatives, I'm thinking of Sheex (probably not a good option, apparently they catch easily on stubble and callouses, which would be an issue), linen (leaning this way right now), silk (insufficient information) or...other? What do you sleep on, and how does it work for you? For cost...let's set $250 or so as a baseline. Less would be better, but I can also go higher if there's a perfect set that will last years. For seasonal stuff, I am planning on picking up some flannel sheets for winter. Thanks!

Where are you getting your sheets from/what are you washing them in? I've had the same sheets for years and they neither shrink nor wear out. White cotton, high thread count.

I had the same problem as you, living in FL and having night sweats/overheating issues even before moving down here. Try pure cotton low thread count bedding. Low thread count may not feel as silky as the higher count stuff, but it is more breathable. As an added bonus they are way cheaper too, you could spend less than 40 bucks for a full set. Just make sure it's PURE cotton with no polyester sneaked in. As for them falling apart in 2 years, no idea. I've had that happen with polyester-mixed bedding but never pure cotton. Maybe wash them on a gentler setting.

I use Sheex bedding with my memory foam topper http://www.sheex.com/sheet-set-sheex-active-comfort-sheet-pillowcases/d/1136C1707 It keeps you cool and wicks and keeps you dry , but they snag on rough skin and stuff sometimes and are very expensive, kinda feels like silk (I've never touched silk) Anecdotally myself and two others think they are great...

Don't go silk. It pills like crazy and is horrible if you sweat at all or want to have sex in your bed - it's like sleeping in moist cling film.

Me too, currently acting up on my heels, but that's it, I could ped egg tomorrow, but these sheets are worth the minor annoyance, I don't sleep with my heels touching them anyway, currently on stomach propped up on phone. They fit fine over 12"+ king matters and 3"+ memory foam

200-400 thread count cotton. Anything more and it doesn't make much of a difference because the threads are doubled over or some such thing.

I switched to Jersey Knit sheets a while back and they're pretty awesome. http://www.amazon.com/Pinzon-Heather-Jersey-Sheet-Set/dp/B00CHHCWKK If you go to Target, Bed Bath & Beyond, etc. try finding a set and feeling it up. They're absolutely wonderful in comparison to regular linen IMO.

These are awesome. They're not like, the end-all-be-all, but they are WAAAAY better than you would expect at the price point. The matching duvet cover is a bit cheap though, had has a pretty flimsy zipper. Still awesome.

I also sleep warm and felt like my sheets were wearing out too quickly and could be more comfortable. Googling led me to https://www.roughlinen.com/rough-linen-sleep.html where I splurged on a sheet that I use as a bottom sheet and two pillow cases. I've only had them for a year so I can't rate their longevity, but they are very comfortable.

Linen Sheets are Optimal; they offer maximum Aeration and Temperature Dispersal; they are Smooth; they do not adopt Odours. In Winter I recommend a Flannelette Sheet; Flannelette offers maximum Warmth and acceptable Smoothness due to the absence of Lanolin (Wool Oil); an alternative is to purchase a Sleeping Bag; a Sleeping Bag offers supreme Insulation.

I highly recommend Modal/Beech fiber sheets. I used to have flannel and years ago gave jersey finish Modal sheets and pillowcases a try. They're super soft, absorb moisture but dry quickly, and they stay cool in the summer and warm in the winter. The only downside is a little pilling and quick wear. I replace them more often than my old flannel sheets.

I just get the cheap 100% cotton ones from IKEA, theyre between $20-50 depending on color/ design. They're great because here it's either super hot, super humid, super cold, or a weird combination of the three at night and they're always dry and non-gross if it's hot/humid, and warm if it's cold. They've never shrunk or lost quality and I've had them for years. Also duvet covers are the best thing.
